How was your first week of March in 2023? Ours went by pretty fast and in 5 days my kids start Spring Break and their dad comes home to visit. Yay! Honestly where has the time gone?! I got some reading done this week but there is an arc I might just DNF. I’m not feeling it so I’m not going to force myself to finish it. I can’t believe in 2 weeks my kids will be in their 4th quarter of school and that’s it – the school year will be over in 2+ months. 🤯
I’m doing better on the Tamoxifen. I give in to my naps – but at least it’s once a day now, I think my body has acclimated to the drug. I’m having some other effects from it, but hopefully my body adjusts to that also.
Today my kids have a Purim festival at their Sunday school so that should be fun.
By the way, how did I not have any book reviews posted this week? lol
I’m DNF’ing Lies We Sing to the Sea because I am not in the mood for Greek Mythology at all.

It’s been a tiring 2023 so far and wow did February go fast. And I don’t want it to go fast but I’m also looking for key moments this year like my husband coming home to visit in 3 weeks. Also- yes I am looking forward to summer where the kids are out of school and we can sleep in everyday. 😅 I need the break! Well they need it more than I do, but man…I just want a break. I feel like I’ve slowed down my pace on reading in 2023. I think because I’m just so busy and exhausted most of the time. I was excited for the two 5 star reads I did read this month ~ now I’m trying to find more like it! Here’s hoping there are more 4-5 star reads for me in March.

It is MARCH. Can you believe it? Meaning my kids are having spring break in 9 day and my husband comes home to visit in 10 days! Where has the time gone? By the way I am determined to finish Forestborn – it’s a book I started reading last year and put down because I had to finish up arcs, but it’s on my shelf near my desk, just staring at me and I told myself to read more books from my physical shelf. Ugh what a week. I’ve been dealing with the chronic fatigue that comes with taking Tamoxifen and it SUCKS really bad. For three days straight, I was napping before lunch time, wanted to nap after bringing my kids home from school and had to crash early for bed. How can I survive this for 5 years? Well I did cut back on a lot of caffeine because I was trying to get my blood pressure to perfect 120/80 but I did have to give in and started to add back a tad bit more caffeine in my day and it helped. I’m not drinking a whole cup of it – my heart can’t handle that anymore…but a few sips actually helped me stay awake all day! Thank god, because I was getting scared there for a moment…I have 2 kids, I can’t sleep the day away!
My husband does come back to visit in 2 weeks so the kids are excited, my daughter’s mood has been amazing since she found out he’s coming home for a little bit. It will be nice!

This was one of my most anticipated reads for February and I finally got a chance to read it. Here is what I thought:
+ A lot happens in this story because the series is only a duology. Ava has fallen into the world of the Unseelie and she is not herself. She learns more about herself and that she has powers and why.
+ Torin and Ava finally get to have a steamy scene together which is what I’ve been waiting for.
+ There is a lot of action in this one, especially at the end.
~ Unfortunately I was less connected to the characters in this one and I think it’s because everything was so fast paced and it felt rushed. I think the whole series altogether feels rushed.
~ I actually wanted to learn more about the villains but again, everything came so rushed at the end.
~ Shalini, Ava’s best friend, actually gets more of a part in this book but I wasn’t expecting her POV and was thrown off and I didn’t even remember who she was only because the book focuses on Ava and Torin. I’m glad she has a happy ending also but it was unexpected.

I enjoyed book one and was interested in seeing where the story would go and even though it was rushed, there were entertaining moments. I think this story had so much potential, I just needed more from it like maybe a third book. Even though I didn’t really love it, I know others will enjoy this book.
