I have so many books to go through from my Bookoutlet haul back in December. You know December when it was Christmas, it was good times, good vibes, and now here we are…April 2020 and reading isn’t taking away my anxiety from all things happening right now in the world, with the coronavirus. So I’ve picked up many books…only to put them down or skim them because I am not in the mood. So what about this one?

My First Impression:

  • Premise sounds fine, college girl wants to broaden her horizons and try her hand at having a better college experience? Okay, I’m here for it.
  • The cover is okay, nothing about it really catches my eye.
  • I hope this one is good but reviews on Goodreads is either love or hate…uh oh. We shall see if it keeps my attention. I need something to take me away from the madness of the world.

First Impression Friday | 3-27-20

How is everyone holding up so far? It’s raining today and supposedly for the rest of the week, so that will help everyone with social distancing and staying at home. I’ve pretty much been home except for going to the grocery store and this morning I had to pick up schoolwork for my son. It leaves a lot of time to read though and I’ve even let my sister borrow a bunch of books from my personal library! Yay 😍 – she hasn’t read in some time but I think this shutdown is directing people to activities they haven’t done in awhile like reading or crafting. Now we actually have the time and not rush.

It is definitely a book I borrowed from the library mostly because the cover is so pretty. But the book blurb sounds intriguing too:

My First Impression:

  • Love the cover!
  • The book blurb sounds interesting. I’m wondering how this scent magic will work.

That’s as far as I got with the book. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So stay tuned for a review!

What a week! My son had strep throat this past weekend and couldn’t hold down food for almost three days. 😞 The weather has been warm but oh so windy, so it’s kicking up allergies in our household. So it was rough weekend – it’s funny because my daughter (she’s 3) tells me she’s sick when her brother is sick because she wants my attention. 🤣 It’s cute and frustrating at the same time – because I have one kid crying in pain, and the other crying because she wants mommy. So I didn’t get much sleep BUT for some reason I got so much reading in – maybe I needed to escape from playing nurse. So yay for reading! Anyway let’s see what I’m reading:

I’m on a Kindle Unlimited reading kick lately, that and I’m finishing up reading my arcs on NetGalley woohoo! But yes I’ve been alternating between both and it’s working out for me. I read Frost Kay’s The Hunt just recently and wanted more of it but I have to wait for the sequel which comes out in August I think so I picked up this other book from her. It’s dystopian and started off talking about a virus that have mutated human DNA. And with all the current news of viruses in the world today…this one definitely peaked my interest! I only read the prologue but I look forward to reading about this world of mutated humans.

First Impression Friday | 2-14-20

Hi everyone and Happy Valentine’s Day! 💗 If you don’t celebrate it, well, I’m still wishing you love today! 😘 I have been busy getting into a new hobby, resin charms. It is addicting, and finally I have something again to unleash my creativity. I’m still learning but I think I’m getting the hang of it…somewhat. Hopefully I can have some bookish up for sale in my Etsy shop soon.

This week I started this eARC from Netgalley:

I am 37% into the story and it is interesting so far. The story is told from two perspectives, one is from a cryptling named Lena who grew up in Duke’s Forest, an area that is in quarantine – no one is supposed to leave but she finds a way out. The other perspective is from Constance who is a mage returning to Duke’s Forest, because she grew up there. The world building is fascinating, there are different mage factions and I’m still trying to decide if it’s got some steampunk elements in it. Lena’s story is grabbing my attention more, but we shall see what happens the further I get into the story.

Hi everyone so I found something different to feature on Fridays. I’ll probably alternate it with First Lines Friday but I wanted to try this one.

I signed up for the book tour of this one, and I just started reading it this week. Think K-Drama! We’ve got a Korean American romance here everyone and I am all here for it. I believe it’s a fake-relationship story, which is FUN when done right. I’m hoping it’s good. 🤞🏽

This is my netgalley arc read currently and I’m trying my very best to get through it. I’m barely halfway through, I think I’m almost 20% through. I even read a sample of it from Bookishfirst before I requested it on NetGalley. And whoa…the first few pages read like it was going to be a fast paced, crime story, but right now I am struggling. The crime has been done and we are in the aftermath of it…and it is slow going. I’ve put it aside for now but I hope to finish before the book is released on February 18th.

My predicted rating right now: ⭐️⭐️1/2

We shall see if the story picks up.
