This week’s topic is:

Petty Reasons You’ve DNF’d a Book

(Or reduced its rating. You don’t even have to say what the book was if you don’t want to!)

  1. Really don’t like the main character.
  2. Writing style is not it for me.
  3. Boring.
  4. I put it down meaning to come back to it but then I forget about it and don’t want to put any more effort in trying to read it.
  5. Abrupt ending (reduced rating).
  6. Pacing is off (reduced rating).
  7. Story is all over the place (reduce rating).
  8. Lacking chemistry between lovers/forced romance (reduce rating).
  9. Annoying main character (reduce rating).
  10. An annoying love interest (reduce rating).

Is that petty enough?? 😅

Some of these are on my kindle shelf because I mostly read ebooks and I haven’t bought a hardcover in a minute.

Master of Iron by. Tricia Levenseller – I’m actually 20% in this book but I put it down 2 years ago and never picked it up again! 3 years on my shelf.

This week’s topic is:

Characters I’d Like to go on Vacation With

(Pretend you’re going on vacation and can bring 10 of your closest friends with you. Pick your vacation spot and tell us who you’d like to bring! Bonus point if you tell us why. Or maybe you like the idea of traveling in small groups, so plan 10 trips or 5 trips!)

  • Xingyin from Heart of the Sun Warrior by. Sue Lynn Tan, because I want her to take me to the Moon and traveling on a cloud would be so cool. Just want to stay out of the Celestial Kingdom drama though!
  • Reyva from The Lake House by Sarah Beth Durst is a solid friend! She would fun to vacation with I think – just not at a lake house. 😅
  • Marco from Ciao For Now by. Kate Bromley seems like so much fun! I’d definitely take a trip to Italy with him!
  • Cassian from A Court of Silver Flames by. Sarah J. Maas – I think Cassian has so much personality and honestly he could fly us to any destination – I’d just have to hold onto him. 🥰
  • Xaden from Fourth Wing by. Rebecca Yarros – I don’t know if he’d be fun on vacation lol…but he could take me riding on a dragon. 🐉
  • Jin from A Tempest of Tea by. Hafsah Faizal – he would be a fun vacation partner! I loved him in the book.
  • Oak from The Prisoner’s Throne by. Holly Black – this boy is always down for a good time! And his charming personality would make any vacation fun I think.
  • Izumi from Tokyo Ever After by. Emiko Jean – she can take me all around Japan! I love Japan.
  • Fizzy from The True Love Experiment by. Christina Lauren – she’s so much fun.

Isabella from King of Pride by. Ana Huang – she has a pet snake and writes erotica lol…I think she’d be fun to vacation with but I don’t think she’d be good at planning one.

Dragons

It’s a freebie week on Top Ten Tuesday so I’m doing a topic that I’ve been wanting to do since Fourth Wing came along. I don’t actively seek books with dragons but it seems like it’s popular lately to have them in books so here are some books with dragons!

The Priory of the Orange Tree by. Samantha Shannon – an epic story with dragons

Top Ten Movies/TV Shows That Would Have Made Amazing Books | TTT | 3/26/24

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Please check out her website for more TTT topics!

This week’s topic is:

Movies/TV Shows That Would Have Made Amazing Books

Yikes this is a harder topic than I thought because all the movies and shows I’m thinking of originated from books! As you can see from my list below I went with movies from the 1980’s-early 2000’s. I loved these movies from when I was young and if any of them were books first, please let me know in the comments below!

Cruel Intentions – this one was dark but so juicy!

10 Things I Hate About You – so much fun and such a cute romance.

She’s All That – classic unpopular girl and popular guy!

Sixteen Candles – where my love for teen romances started!

Pretty in Pink – Blaine? lol…oh the rich boy names in the 80’s!

Never Been Kissed – I loved this movie!

The Craft – witchcraft and girls in private school? Total book material!

My Best Friend’s Wedding – when the MC doesn’t get the guy in the end but it’s still an amazing and touching story!

Sleepless in Seattle – a classic! Two characters who never meet until the end in a time pre-cell phones!

You’ve Got Mail – another classic in the age of AOL – lol…

Oh boy did I just show my age in this post but I really did grow up in the time when movies were so much fun and the stories were so good. I remember always going to the movies with my girlfriends to catch the latest rom-coms. Good times!

Top Ten Books I’ve re-read the most | TTT | 3/12/24

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Please check out her website for more TTT topics!

This week’s topic is: Books I’m Worried I Might Not Love as Much the Second Time Around

I’m tweaking this topic a tiny bit this week because I need a topic that doesn’t take much brain power lol. So here are the books I’m pretty sure I’ve re-read the most.

Books I’ve re-read the most

  • A Court of Thorns and Roses by. Sarah J. Maas
  • A Court of Mist and Fury by. Sarah J. Maas
  • A Court of Frost and Starlight by. Sarah J. Maas

  • The Cruel Prince by. Holly Black
  • The Wicked King by. Holly Black
  • The Queen of Nothing by. Holly Black
  • To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by. Jenny Han
  • P.S. I Still Love You by. Jenny Han
  • Always and Forever Lara Jean by. Jenny Han

As you can see my re-reading days were way before my book blogging days and I could actually invest time into reading. I even waited patiently for books in a series to come out, re-read before the next book came out and actually committed to finishing them! Those were good times 😅…now it’s such a struggle to find time to re-read but it is definitely a goal of mine to devote more time to re-reading. I actually want to re-read books I never posted reviews for, so we’ll see if I can do that when I don’t have many arcs to read this year, which will be from April and onwards.
