WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam over on Taking on a World of Words.

The idea is pretty simple, every week you dedicate a post to the three W’s:

What are you currently reading?

What have you just finished reading?

What are you going to read next?

My kids started school this week and I had to comfort some nerves but first day went to well and I think it’s going to be a good year for both of them! What I love about them being back in school is now I can get some quiet time in the house before they came home. Of course I ended up just cleaning and running errands but I did get a little reading in here and there.

**I am coming back to read A Venom Dark and Sweet, and Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute because my borrowed copies expired. For Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute, my copy got messed up and I had to re-download it but I couldn’t because it also expired so I have to wait for it again. **

Aloha friends!

This past week was about getting ready for back to school tomorrow! We had teacher meet and greets and got to drop off supplies. Also my daughter isn’t taking ballet this half of the year, she wants to try tap so we had to pick up her uniform and she starts Friday afternoon. We’ll see how she likes it.

I have a headache while writing this so I’ll cut this short but I hope you have a great week!

It’s August. My kids go back to school on Monday, my daughter starts tap dancing classes next Friday, my son’s 11th birthday is at the end of this month…so much happening in August and I know it’s going to fly by. I’m almost done with Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute. I was about to finish but my kindle app was acting up and told me I couldn’t open it which is weird! I may have to re-download it – boo! Anyway I’m 60% done with it. I have to really work on Foul Heart Huntsman, I’ve been chipping at it little by little trying to get myself back into that world and be in the mood for it.

Aloha friends!

I spent this week trying to plan a trip to Osaka, Japan for fall – and I really wasn’t planning on going since we went to Okinawa, Japan already. But my sister and her family are going in October, then my bestie’s sister is going in November so I was curious about airfare and when I saw they were almost half what I spent for Okinawa – I plan started to form in my mind. So I was obsessively checking potential trip dates in October. My kids want to go to Universal Studios and I haven’t brought them to any theme park yet, not even in the USA so, this one would be their first time and they REALLY REALLY REALLY want to go to Super Nintendo World at Universal so that’s on our list. But November had good prices on flights too so then I kept researching – EVERYTHING it seems lol. I finally narrowed it down to date, hotel and flight…I just have to buy our plane tickets. I guess I’ll be in Japan for Thanksgiving! 😁

That was my focus this week, it was even hard to read because I wanted to get the good deals before the prices go up. So I felt like I had no motivation to read.

Hope you all had a great week!

I’m trying to finish up some arcs, and online library books. I did pick up Divine Rivals on KU because I wanted to do a re-read. I’m going through that one slowly. But other than that I think I’ve been reading a variety of genres and it’s keeping me somewhat entertained! Hope you are reading something good!

Aloha friends!

It was a fairly chill week as I was still healing from my biopsy but today I finally feel 100% pain free, so that’s awesome. I got a chance to read a few books, a few that I can finally knock off my TBR list! My kids have only 2 more weeks of summer vacation and that’s it. Oh how this summer flew by so fast!

Hope you all had a great week!

I’ve kind of put The Davenports to the side – I’m halfway through, I’m just not in the mood.

I’m halfway through Sign of the Slayer and I had to put House of Striking Oaths to the side, because once more too much info-dumping in the beginning but I’ll come back to it. And Divine Rivals is on Kindle Unlimited! I don’t have a physical or ebook copy so I downloaded from KU and this is a re-read.

Shows/Movies I Watched:

  • Crazy Rich Asians (Prime Video) – that wedding ALWAYS gets me, it always makes me shed a tear…ugh…such a good movie and can we get the sequel already? It’ been 5 years! I want Astrid’s story!
  • A Walk to Remember (Prime Video) – talk about a blast from the past. I will ALWAYS love this movie. It brings back good memories going to the movies with my friends and also, I remember we were bawling our eyes out at the end of this movie! LOL…😭😆
  • Penelope (Prime Video) – another cute movie

Two friend groups collide when someone turns up dead over spring break in this heart-thumping YA thriller for fans of One of Us Is Lying and We Were Liars

Spring break is a vibe—until someone gets murdered

Partying with popular classmates they barely know is not what Eva and her BFFs had in mind for their spring break. But things have been off ever since Miles’ academic career took a turn for the worse (they don’t talk about it), so a trip to a private beach lodge might be exactly what they need. And Eva won’t admit it, but the chance to reconnect with Colton is worth putting up with Piper’s constant livestreams to her thousands of “besties.”

At first, it’s all sand and waves, but tensions run high when an anonymous letter shakes up an already-flailing love triangle.

When someone turns up dead, Eva can’t even trust her closest friends—but she thinks she can trust Colton. As they get closer to the truth, they uncover secrets that upend everything they thought they knew about their fellow spring breakers.

“A complete knockout. Readers will be thinking of this story long after they finish the final page.” —Adalyn Grace, New York Times bestselling author of Belladonna

“Utterly compelling and impossible to put down.” —Rachel Griffin, New York Times bestselling author of Bring Me Your Midnight

“I’ve never read a book that felt so much like picking up pieces of a broken heart—powerful, poignant, and true.” —Axie Oh, New York Times bestselling author of The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea and XOXO

Atlas James has lost her way.

In a last-ditch effort to pull her life together, she’s working on a community service program rehabbing trails in the Western Sierras. The only plus is that the days are so exhausting that Atlas might just be tired enough to forget that this was one of her dad’s favorite places in the world. Before cancer stole him from her life, that is.

Using real names is forbidden on the trail. So Atlas becomes Maps, and with her team—Books, Sugar, Junior, and King—she heads into the wilderness. As she sheds the lies she’s built up as walls to protect herself, she realizes that four strangers might know her better than anyone has before. And with the end of the trail racing to meet them, Maps is left counting down the days until she returns to her old life—without her new family, and without King, who’s become more than just a friend.

In this romantic fantasy of manners from New York Times bestselling author Allison Saft, a magical dressmaker commissioned for a royal wedding finds herself embroiled in scandal when a gossip columnist draws attention to her undeniable chemistry with the groom.

Niamh Ó Conchobhair has never let herself long for more. The magic in her blood that lets her stitch emotions and memories into fabric is the same magic that will eventually kill her. Determined to spend the little time she has left guaranteeing a better life for her family, Niamh jumps at the chance to design the wardrobe for a royal wedding in the neighboring kingdom of Avaland.

But Avaland is far from the fairytale that she imagined. While young nobles attend candlelit balls and elegant garden parties, unrest brews amid the working class. The groom himself, Kit Carmine, is prickly, abrasive, and begrudgingly being dragged to the altar as a political pawn. But when Niamh and Kit grow closer, an unlikely friendship blossoms into something more—until an anonymous gossip columnist starts buzzing about their chemistry, promising to leave them alone only if Niamh helps to uncover the royal family’s secrets. The rot at the heart of Avaland runs deep, but exposing it could risk a future she never let herself dream of, and a love she never thought possible.

Transporting readers to a Regency England-inspired fantasy world, A Fragile Enchantment is a sweeping romance threaded with intrigue, unforgettable characters, and a love story for the ages.

KINDLE UNLIMITED:

Meredith Fox has been going to Martha’s Vineyard for the summer as long as she can remember. But this summer is the first one back since the death of Meredith’s sister. It will all be overwhelming, but even more since since the entire extended family will be together for her cousin’s big wedding.

Unfortunately, Meredith’s longtime boyfriend unexpectedly dumped her two weeks before the wedding, leaving her dateless. Luckily, she has the perfect distraction. Her family has a tradition of playing the ultimate game of Assassin every summer, and this year it will take place during the week of wedding festivities.

But her target just happens to be a very cute groomsman. She’s determined to not let herself get distracted, not let herself be lost in another doomed relationship. But as the week progresses, she can’t help falling for him, which may cost her not only the game, but also her heart.

Meredith’s family’s annual game of assassin at Martha’s Vineyard during a summer wedding is the perfect chance to honor her sister’s legacy, and finally join the world again. But when she forms an alliance with a cute groomsman, she’s at risk of losing both the game… and her heart.

Belly finds out what comes after falling in love in this follow-up to The Summer I Turned Pretty from the New York Times bestselling author of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (soon to be a major motion picture!), Jenny Han.

Can summer be truly summer without Cousins Beach?

It used to be that Belly counted the days until summer, until she was back at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. But not this year. Not after Susannah got sick again and Conrad stopped caring. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come.

But when Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly knows what she must do to make things right again. And it can only happen back at the beach house, the three of them together, the way things used to be. If this summer really and truly is the last summer, it should end the way it started—at Cousins Beach.

I WILL BECOME QUEEN OF LUCE… OR DIE TRYING.

There are few people I loathe more than Dante Regio, but my aunt Bronwen, my former grandfather Justus, and my Shabbin grandmother Meriam sit right alongside the Faerie monarch on my list of despicable beings. Especially after they assist the pointy-eared ruler with my kidnapping.

Locked in an obsidian underworld no Crow can reach, not even their king, I soon learn things aren’t as they seem. People aren’t as they seem. And history… I’m still attempting to reconcile the truth with what I was previously told.

My new allies have an agenda, but I have one of my own. Though there’s overlap—we all agree Dante must die—what I desire more than anything is to return to Lore before he levels the kingdom to find me… or loses his humanity trying.

I may favor crowns over coffins, but I refuse to live in a world where my mate only exists as a bird.

Strap in for one last romantic and pulse-pounding adventure in a world governed by magic and hearts.

“The brightest star needs the darkest night.”

In a world abandoned by the celestial guardians and left to suffer a tyrant king’s reign, all Astraea knows is safety in seclusion. With fragmented memories of only five years of her life, she’s determined to discover more about her past, even if that means fleeing the cruel arms that hold her safe from the wicked vampires rumored to roam the land.

But when Astraea stumbles upon the mysterious Nyte, she soon realizes determination alone isn’t enough to guard her heart. He lingers like the darkness that expands between the stars, and soon she discovers her captor’s wicked means of control weren’t based on a lie to keep her under locks after all. In her desperation, Astraea accepts Nyte’s help before she can decide if she might have sold her allegiance to one of the bloodthirsty beings the people of her world fear.

Once their bargain is struck, Astraea’s chance to escape comes in the form of accompanying her best friend Cassia to the King’s Central. There on royal territory it’s the centenary of the Libertatem, a succession of trials hosted by the king in which five human lands compete for a cycle of safety from the vampires seeking blood, claiming souls, and savaging after dark. So when tragedy strikes, Astraea must decide if taking the place of a murdered participant for the safety of her kingdom is a ruse is worth dying for, or if protection—and the answers to her past—really are her strongest desires.

The second I stepped through the doors of Gray Wolf Academy, my world disintegrated. Here, time is malleable. It can be manipulated, shifted. Changed. And for those of us who Trip—or travel through time—the possibilities are infinite and perilous.

Now my life is caught in the secrets of everyone around me. Arthur, the eccentric billionaire who rules this school. Killian, who could be the only honest person here…or the biggest liar. And Braxton, magnetic, gorgeous, and unfathomable. The only thing I trust about him is our electric connection.

Whether we’re Tripping through Renaissance Italy or thieving from a ball in Regency England, my life’s become a web of lies and strange truths. And beneath the surface is an elaborate puzzle, filled with cryptic symbols and priceless treasures scattered across history—all somehow connected to my strange ability to see through time.

But Arthur has a dangerously ambitious agenda. And if what my dad taught me is true, I’m not just a threat to everyone at Gray Wolf.

…I’m a threat to time itself.

KINDLE Bought E-Books:

ONLINE LIBRARY:

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Brown Sisters trilogy, comes a laugh-out-loud story about a quirky content creator and a clean-cut athlete testing their abilities to survive the great outdoors–and each other.

Bradley Graeme is pretty much perfect. He’s a star football player, manages his OCD well (enough), and comes out on top in all his classes . . . except the ones he shares with his ex-best friend, Celine.

Celine Bangura is conspiracy-theory-obsessed. Social media followers eat up her takes on everything from UFOs to holiday overconsumption–yet, she’s still not cool enough for the popular kids’ table. Which is why Brad abandoned her for the in-crowd years ago. (At least, that’s how Celine sees it.)

These days, there’s nothing between them other than petty insults and academic rivalry. So when Celine signs up for a survival course in the woods, she’s surprised to find Brad right beside her.

Forced to work as a team for the chance to win a grand prize, these two teens must trudge through not just mud and dirt but their messy past. And as this adventure brings them closer together, they begin to remember the good bits of their history. But has too much time passed . . . or just enough to spark a whole new kind of relationship?

Bestselling authors and real-life sisters-in-law Catherine Doyle and Katherine Webber join forces on a compelling YA fantasy bursting with high-stakes adventure, romance and humour. Two queens, one throne. What can possibly go wrong . . .?

Twin queens Wren and Rose have claimed their crowns . . . but not everyone is happy about witches sitting on Eana’s throne.

Cool-headed Rose sets off on a Royal Tour to win over the doubters, but soon finds herself drawn to the Sunless Kingdom. Here secrets are revealed about those closest to her, and Rose finds her loyalties divided.

Meanwhile rebellious Wren steals away to the icy north to rescue their beloved grandmother, Banba. But when she accepts King Alarik’s deadly magical bargain in exchange for Banba’s freedom, the spell has unexpected – and far-reaching – consequences . . .

As an ancient curse begins to arise from the darkness, the sisters must come together and unite the crown. Their lives – and the future of Eana – depend on it.

Break the ice to free the curse,
Kill one twin to save another . . .

PHYSICAL BOOKS:

In 1910, the Davenports are one of the few Black families of immense wealth and status in a changing United States, their fortune made through the entrepreneurship of William Davenport, a formerly enslaved man who founded the Davenport Carriage Company years ago. Now the Davenports live surrounded by servants, crystal chandeliers, and endless parties, finding their way and finding love—even where they’re not supposed to.

There is Olivia, the beautiful elder Davenport daughter, ready to do her duty by getting married. . . until she meets the charismatic civil rights leader Washington DeWight and sparks fly. The younger daughter, Helen, is more interested in fixing cars than falling in love—unless it’s with her sister’s suitor. Amy-Rose, the childhood friend turned maid to the Davenport sisters, dreams of opening her own business—and marrying the one man she could never be with, Olivia and Helen’s brother, John. But Olivia’s best friend, Ruby, also has her sights set on John Davenport, though she can’t seem to keep his interest . . . until family pressure has her scheming to win his heart, just as someone else wins hers.

The first book in a breathless new series, The Davenports offers a glimpse into a period of African American history often overlooked, while delivering a totally escapist, swoon-worthy read. Inspired by the real-life story of C.R. Patterson and his family, it’s the tale of four determined and passionate young Black women discovering the courage to steer their own path in life—and love.

Aloha friends!

This week wasn’t fun. I had an MRI biopsy which was not fun, very uncomfortable and it’s painful when the lidocaine fades so I was sleeping weird. I mean there was pain during the biopsy also but I guess it was tolerable. I just hate when they tell you “don’t move” and psychologically it makes me WANT to move. Reverse psychology. I didn’t move but I always feel like doing an MRI is a big test of my mental patience – I can’t move, even when there is a loud beeping noise happening while the images are taken. And I asked for Taylor Swift to play in the headphones lol…so it was like Taylor Swift loud in my ears plus this mentally glaring loud beeping on top of it. UGH….BUT…my results came back benign. YAY! I am very happy I get to relax for another 6 months before another mammogram and MRI. 😒🙏🏼 I’ll take it…

Anyway the week was about taking it easy while I healed and I’m feeling so much better. So I have to continue back to school shopping, but I am 80% done. 💪🏾

Hope you all had a great week!

That Summer I Turned Pretty (season 2, episode 1-3): omg…it’s so SAD because of the grief all over these first 3 episodes💔😢, but gawd I am still mad at Belly for hooking up with 2 brothers in the middle of their mom having cancer. I know, I know, she was in love and she’s young and making mistakes…but damn…it sucks. I didn’t love Belly in the book either, this is a love triangle I didn’t love at all. So I’m basically here for the friendship, the memories, Conrad (Jeremiah too lol), and the music. I mean…Taylor Swift? Olivia Rodrigo? One Direction?! Smashing Pumpkins?! Like what?! And “Kissing You”?!!!! I gasped. I played that song so much on my piano after Romeo+Juliet came out (Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes)…that songs always gives me goosebumps. All of it, I love it.

Hi all! My week started with an MRI biopsy which was as uncomfortable as it sounds. But it had to be done, so I’m dealing with some tenderness on my right side and have to refrain from any strenuous activity or heavy lifting. I’m hoping for good results. In the meantime, I’m trying to finish some arcs and library books.
