I haven’t been reading much because it was Thanksgiving weekend and I wanted to just chill! My hubby comes back this Saturday so that’s exciting and my son has a recital on Sunday (he caught a cold so hoping it’s better by then). I’m 99% done with my Christmas shopping – still getting some gifts for my daughter’s birthday since it’s in the first week of January. But yeah…I feel like I have no motivation to really read right now? But I’ll be working on some January arcs because I have to!
Well we got through it! Thanksgiving lunch at my mom’s was nice. I made green bean casserole, corn bread, and pistachio cake. I also bought pumpkin crunch and custard pie. There’s only three of us that really eat turkey so since my hubby isn’t here and he was one of the three, we opted for Popeyes fried chicken instead. And since I’m Filipino my mom made lumpia, pancit and pinakbet (a veggie dish). My dad cooked some steak so my tummy was happy! We (me, my bro in law, and son) had an intense game of Monopoly because my son is so competitive. I think it lasted 2 hours before I had to call it done because my daughter wanted to go home lol. On “Black Friday” we just hung out at home because I’m not doing all that anymore lol…and we don’t have any piano lessons or Sunday school this weekend so it was a real break from everything which is so nice.
Watched Our Little Secret on Netflix – the one with Lindsay Lohan. I thought it was over a fun movie, but I felt like it lacked in the romance department. It’s a second-chance romance but I felt no chemistry between the two characters.
Watched Dash & Lily on Netflix – I watch this once a year it seems. I love it! I just love how it’s set in New York City and starts at a bookstore.
Listened to Wicked Soundtrack – love it! I really need to go watch this movie. Just don’t know if I should wait until my hubby comes back so we can watch it together.

I lost track of the days and only realized this is the last week of November. 🤯. So I’ll have to be doing a monthly wrap-up soon and I’m trying to make sure I just get all the arcs I have left for this year – done! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and we will be going to my parents house as usual. My kids have a 4 day weekend from school, piano and Sunday school so it will be nice to just chill at home, sleep in, etc…I already put up the tree and am done with 90% of my Christmas shopping so I hope this means I will have time to just chill in December. We shall see…anyway, I did get some reading done!
I’m sure I’ll throw in some Kindle Unlimited books during the week – I’m trying to get my money’s worth haha. So maybe there will be one or two I can find to read next.
It was a long weekend that continued into a long week but it is what it is. I did most of my Christmas shopping this weekend – YAY! Just a few more to go, but those are gift cards. I even had enough motivation to put up the tree. I actually had to buy a new tree, because our old one was not looking fluffy anymore haha. I got one at 50% at Target and it’s pre-lit! We love it.
Oppenheimer (Prime Video) – I finally watched this one and it was a little long, but I can see why Cillian Murphy won an Oscar. I love Christopher Nolan movies.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (Prime Video) – I have been looking for something cute and funny to watch and Netflix had nothing so I found this on Prime! I love this movie!
The Ugly Truth (Prime Video) – I guess I’m in a rom-com phase? I forgot how funny this one is also.

It’s been a busy week so far! I had no time to read on Sunday and Monday because I was driving all over the place (uber mom and daughter status lol). I did manage to read at the end of last week but this week, not so much yet. I’m hoping to finish What the Woods Took and then maybe some of the Kindle Unlimited titles I borrowed yesterday, Hate Mail and The Half King. We’ll see if I can get to them!
I got to eat lunch with my daughter at school on Wednesday because it’s National Lunch Week – and whew…the chaos of the cafeteria lol. It was nice to meet some of her classmates and see who was who. Other than that the week went by way too slowly I feel, even with our day off on Veteran’s day. I did get some Christmas gift wrapping done! Woohoo!
My hubby comes back in 3 weeks (hopefully, still needs to get his plane ticket) but we are excited! He does come back with some new furniture which means we have to get rid of things or move things around. But it’ll be nice to finally have him home.
Today I’m going to brunch with 2 friends I haven’t seen in awhile, so that will be nice!
And by the way WordPress gave me a notification congratulating me for 6 years on WordPress – WOW. 🤯. Thanks for sticking by me and reading my blog – I didn’t even realize 6 years has passed. I thought I was still on 4 or something like that lol.
Nobody Wants This (Netflix) – I can’t wait for season 2!
Emilia Pérez (Netflix) – it’s a musical and I really enjoyed it! Zoe Saldana is amazing in it.

We are in mid-November and I’m in a slump but I don’t mind. I’m just trying to make it to the end of the year and it’s now the holidays so 🫠 here comes the rush! I’m definitely not in the holiday spirit yet – is it hot in your area still? Our weather feels like it’s shifting a little but it will get a tiny bit cold, some rain, then hot in the day – the ants who were bothering me this summer are still HERE. So annoying…anyway I hope you guys are experiencing some nice, cool, Fall weather!
My week started good because it was my birthday on Monday. I had a massage at the spa on Sunday and lunch afterwards with family. Then Tuesday hit (USA Election Day) and I experienced the 5 stages of grief in the span of a few days. It has sucked but I’m glad I’m not alone in my despair. I’m now in the mode of – to quote Taylor Swift “I think I’ve seen this film before…and I didn’t like the ending…”.

I had no energy to read this past week but I did finish some arcs! I think I’m in kind of a slump with Halloween, the USA election and the holidays coming up? I’m kind of mental tired right now!
What a week!!! 😅 It was spirit week of course at my daughter’s school so that was fun, plus she had early release schedule all week which she loved AND no school after Halloween. Lucky her! She had a Halloween parade at school which wasn’t as hot as usual (yes even at 8am) so I survived and got a kick out of so many kids wearing the inflatable costumes, it makes me laugh to see them walking in them! After the parade I dashed over the our local grocery and Hallelujah the candies were 75%! So I finally got chocolates.
Halloween evening my son and I wore the hats Mario and Luigi hats we bought at Universal Studious Japan. I was Mario, he was Luigi and I had a little cute Yoshi purse. Like an actual Yoshi plushie purse. My daughter was a Pikmin at her Halloween parade but that night she wanted to be a spider. So she wore a black dress and we put one of the smaller spider decorations on her dress.😅 We went around the block and down a few streets. I felt like our street which used to get all the trick or treaters, had less this year because a lot of my neighbors didn’t pass out candy or decorate which is kinda sad but totally understandable with candy being so expensive. But we also have a bunch of retirees on our street and maybe they just didn’t want to stay up passing out candy.
After we got home we sat outside for maybe 20 minutes passing out candy (we had left a bowl of candy for people to help themselves to when we were gone) but I was SO tired. It was a long day, I had a headache earlier, it was a little humid and so we left the 2 bowls of candy outside and I refilled it every 20 minutes. And then at 8:30pm I noticed one bowl was missing! Ugh – candy thieves! I mean take the candy but at least leave my bowl! 😆 It’s okay, it was a plastic bowl that was $5 I think, but geez…someone was hungry!
Overall, it was an exhausting week and I can’t believe October is over. I’m getting a massage at the spa today because tomorrow is my birthday and I so deserve it. My body hurt this past week so this is overdue! Then we are heading to my parents’ house for some lunch with the family.❤️
Coco on Disney+ I wanted something to watch with the kids for Halloween so we ended up watching this a few days before. It’s the perfect movie to watch for Halloween and it inspired us to do an ofrenda (altar) this year.
Martha on Netflix – this documentary is wild! Martha is stone-cold lol, loved it.
