Books With a Winter Vibe

I was trying to pick book covers that I didn’t use to my Holiday Romances TTT last week, but that was hard so I’m going with Books with a Winter Vibe since it’s easier.

Books I Enjoyed that Were Outside My Comfort Zone

(or books you’d like to read that are outside your comfort zone!)

  • Middle of the Night by. Riley Sager – I kept seeing this author’s book around and I finally read one and did enjoy it. Will definitely try out more of his books.
  • Hekate: The Witch by. Nikita Gill – I really enjoyed this book and I didn’t think I would because it is written like poetry with some paragraphs for other chapters. So I didn’t think I’d like it because I don’t usually read poetry.
  • Alchemised by. SenLinYu – this is a long book and super hyped so I am intimidated by it a little. I’m not afraid of how long it is but I was just afraid I’d be disappointed because the hype is so strong.
  • Coldwire by. Chloe Gong– I love Chloe Gong but Sci-Fi isn’t a genre I usually pick up so I was hesitant going into this one and I enjoyed it – even though there was a lot of tech words to process. 😅
  • Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by. Grady Hendrix – I haven’t read anything from this author yet but definitely want to! Leave me any recs for which book I should read in the comments.
  • Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng by. Kylie Lee Baker – I love this author and have read all her books and I thought this was so different in what I’ve read from her before (fantasy). So Bat Eater is horror and out of my element but I loved it.

Horror Books I’ve Read in 2025

In honor of Halloween here are some horror books I’ve read this year! I am not a true Horror fan, but this year I’ve had fun reading these books. And most of these are Lite Horror, or young adult because I’m a wimp – I cannot do full on horror. 😅

  • The Dead of Summer by. Ryan La Sala – a virus, zombies, body horror
  • Coffin Moon by. Keith Rosson – vampire horror
  • The Executioners Three by. Susan Dennard – not a lot of horror, young adult, sorta like Stranger Things
  • Soul of Shadow by. Emma Noyes – dark, Norse mythology
  • And the River Drags Her Down by. Jihyun Yun – grief, paranormal, body horror
  • Predatory Natures by. Amy Goldsmith – plant horror
  • Their Monstrous Hearts by. Yiğit Turhan – monstrous butterflies
  • Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng – covid, serial killer, paranormal
  • House of Hearts by. Skyla Arndi – family curse, paranormal, secret society

A Spell to Wake the Dead by. Nicole Lesperance – cult, witchcraft
