This year I decided I wanted to use a reading journal to keep my tracking and I bought something simple on Amazon, something affordable but the more I used it and saw other reading journals on Tiktok (yes I am highly influenced LOL), I started to shop around for a different one.
I figured it’s still March and I have time to start a new journal. That means I was have to be willing to transfer my info from my first journal to the new one but I thought it was worth it. I found THIS:

Anyway, I wanted to show it off so I finally made my first youtube video! 😅. Just an FYI – I hate speaking in a video. I always hated public speaking, so if I sound awkward and nervous in the video – don’t mind me! I’m such a newb (as my kids would say)..an amateur for sure! 😅 I think it would be fun to do a video each month of my journaling and monthly recap. I’ll post one more video this month- the February recap – then I’ll be caught up. I’m thinking of adding some other bookish content? 🤔
But we’ll see how much work I want to do making video content – it’s hard work! The filming, the editing…but I did find it fun!

One of my more ambitious journaling goals would be to do one of those reading journals from scratch – they are so artistic! I felt like I used to be so artistic in my youth (almost did a double major in art!) and I just lost it as I got older (went to work, got married, had kids) and it would be so nice to find that part of myself again. 💜 I just don’t know if I have the motivation to keep up with it though and also narrowing down ideas on what to put it in would drive me a bit bonkers. I guess having a theme would work but I’m just rambling off ideas now. Maybe I’ll do it for 2026!

I finally finished Thunderhead! And I would have been finished earlier if I was reading it as an ebook but that was my fault for letting that expire. Thank goodness I actually have the hardcover books on my shelf huh?😅
There are a lot of things happening in Thunderhead and it follows a bunch of different characters throughout. Rowan’s character goes through a lot whereas Citra is doing well with Scythe Curie at her side. Another character, Greyson, has a big role in the events that transpire in this story.
I found Thunderhead’s thoughts really fascinating especially because in our real world we are on the verge of AI being everywhere. I also found what was going on in the Scythedom really interesting because of the power plays taking place and how I feel like it represents the Vatican. It really is amazing to imagine the world becoming the way it is portrayed in this book. The medical science and convenience of some things – like not needing to work – sound amazing. But the story explores the other side to this conversation too. The story is complex and the world-building is great.
The book is long and I was bummed Rowan and Citra was apart for almost all of it! But overall I was entertained.
The ending was unexpected and crazy. I’ll be jumping into book three hopefully next month.

Final Thoughts:
What a sequel to Scythe! I love reading the Thunderhead’s thoughts and I really wasn’t expecting the story to take the turn it did. It was great to be in Rowan and Citra’s world again but it’s one that is collapsing under the strain of what’s happening in the Scythedom. I can’t want to see how this story ends.

I don’t know if it was a good idea to listen to this as an audiobook only because I can’t keep the names straight in my head. There are a bunch of characters but it did help that each chapter was in the POV of a different character. There are five blades plus one (a prince who is along for the job). Plus the chapters are short so it kept the story moving along. The narrators did such a great job, it made the listening of this audiobook enjoyable!
These five blades are tasked to kill the King of Yusan. Each of them have their own motivations in wanting to take on this job, and each has their own way of wanting to accomplish the task. Most of the story is about them meeting one another on their way to do this job, they are suspicious of one another but eventually come to trust each other and come up with a plan. But there is a twist in the end.
During this story there are three romances brewing – one a second chance romance between two guys, a prince and one of the assassins. They have a past love affair but things happen and now here they are again – the attraction is still there. Royo and Aeri was very much opposites attract and I thought they were fun, because Royo is such a grump but definitely a forced proximity situation (actually for all couples)! As for Sora and Ty, she hates him because he’s the son of the spymaster she works for, yet Ty’s always been in love with her so I thought their story was fun to watch too.
I feel like Sora’s story stood out to me the most because she’s like Poison Ivy plus she’s trying to save her sister.
Like any long story with tons of characters, it was at first hard to follow. It’s why I feel like maybe I should have read this book instead of listened to it, but the narrators did such a great job.
Final Thoughts:
I finally can knock this one off my TBR list and I already borrowed the book two in audiobook! Even though there were lots going on in the story and with lots of characters to remember, I found it entertaining and want to see what happens next in the series.

+ Nothing exciting happened this week – I did get my flu shot finally and so I was dealing with feeling a bit feverish afterwards but it coincided with my PMS/hot flashes lol…so I was used to that.
+ Just did the usual cleaning, laundry, blogging, reading and dropping off the kids and picking up the kids. I feel like I’m doing less spending now that the economy is shaky and uncertain. I mean that’s good for me I guess! I did buy an ebook though – Oathbound by. Tracy Deonn. I couldn’t help myself lol.
+ This week my daughter has Market Day at school. The second graders made their own products, my daughter decided to do bookmarks – I helped her cut the cardstock and put the tassels but she’s doing all the artwork for the bookmarks. They get tickets from their teacher to buy stuff from the market also so we’ll see how that goes! I think it’s a fun idea.

I read Filthy Rich Fae last year and really enjoyed and while waiting for book two I decided to pick up this series the author wrote before FRF. This one is called Filthy Rich Vampire and was written three years ago.
I thought it was just okay. Thea is a cellist and runs into Julian, a vampire royal, at a party. Something happens and she sees things that she’s not supposed to and honestly Julian comes clean really fast in the beginning, telling her he’s a vampire and yes they are real.
This is an insta-lust and insta-love story – things take place in the span of a week! So with that said, I didn’t love Thea. She’s a young college student with dreams and Julian comes along, who is 1000 years old and okay he’s sexy and gorgeous and rich but…one week? Girl…I was like, red flag, red flag!! 😂. I needed her friends to give her a harsher pep-talk but Thea was gone – head over heels for Julian. She comes off so young and immature that I was not into it, I needed Thea to think more logically. It’s drama-filled with not a lot of depth. There are lots of spicy scenes but even the whole sex issue is filled with drama and issues.
Final Thoughts:
It started off good and then ended up being not for me. I just needed more from the writing. It’s insta-lust, insta-love, angsty, dramatic, and spicy. Was I there for the drama? Maybe. But I needed more depth and yes, did I download book two just to see if Thea as a character grow? I did 🤦🏻♀️ but I already have a bad feeling about the book after reading two chapters LOL. We’ll see if I DNF the book. I was just kind of surprised because I did enjoy Filthy Rich Fae but this one I did not.
