Autumn Color Book Covers

We don’t really have an autumn in Hawaii with the leaves changing colors so I used to love traveling in the fall just to experience the season. What’s your favorite thing about autumn?

Summer Lovin’, Had Me A Blast ~ Pink Book Covers| 9/2/22

I was so heartbroken when I heard that Olivia Newton-John passed a few weeks ago. I grew up watching Grease and Grease 2. My summers were filled with rewatching these movies and I wanted to be a Pink Lady so bad. So in honor of Olivia Newton-John and her amazing role as Sandy in Grease, who had Danny Zuko on his knees by the end of the movie lol…here are some PINK book covers.

Summer Lovin’, Had Me A Blast ~ Pink Book Covers

Sandy was the sweet, innocent, dreaming of love kinda girl…and Rizzo, I always thought I was more like her 😅. I love how the Pink Ladies were all so different, but tough and strong in their own ways. I love Olivia’s voice – even outside of Grease, my dad was a big fan of hers so I grew up with her music in the 80’s.

Rest in Love Olivia! 💕

Back to School ~ Dark Academia Books

Since Back to School is the theme for me this month, why not showcase some dark academia books? Dark academia is a genre I’ve only started reading since it was getting popular the past few years. I haven’t read a lot of it but I am always trying to expand my reading list. I’m definitely looking forward to reading Babel when it releases this month! Do you like dark academia books?

Back to School ~ Dark Academia Books

I’ve only read two from this list: A Lesson in Vengeance and A Deadly Education! Everything else is on my TBR but I did honestly try to read Ninth House and just wasn’t in the mood for some reason. Will eventually pick it up again, I think. Anyway let me know any dark academia books that you would recommend in the comments below.

My Favorite Book Cover Color of the Year – Purple

I’ve noticed so many books this year have purple book covers and they are really beautiful. I’ve been loving them and wish I could have all of them on my book shelf. Here are some 2022 books with purple book covers!

It is such a beautiful color! 💜

Back to School ~ Books with School Uniforms on the Cover

Did you go to private school and wear a uniform? I went to public school so we could wear anything we wanted – well not anything, but you know what I mean. My kids go to public school and they have to wear a t-shirt uniform. I kind of like the idea, since you always know what you will be wearing and cuts down the chances of a wardrobe meltdown lol. Here are book covers with school uniforms on the cover.

Books with School Uniforms on the Cover

I do love a cover with a school uniform on it. I don’t know why, maybe because I never went to private school and it makes me curious what it was like? Not sure, but I keep reading the stories!

Back to School ~ Books Set in a Prep School

I love books set in a prep school or boarding school – why do bad things always happen there?! 😅 It’s always the perfect setting for a mystery or thriller. Or it’s the perfect setting to dethrone the popular kids and fall in love. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t think I could deal with the pressures though. Here are some books set in a prep school or boarding school.

What is with all the bloody covers? Told you bad things happen there, at least in the stories!

It’s a Cruel Summer ~ Books That Take Place the Summer Before School Starts | 7/25/22

Summer break is ending this week for my kids…and for me! 😩 It’s gonna be a busy one as we gear up for school the first week of August so with that said here are some books that take place the summer before school starts up again. I love these types of books because they are the epitome of “coming of age”, and there is so much to think about like college, future plans, what to do about dating or breaking up with boyfriends/girlfriends…you know the deal!

It’s kinda funny when I made this blog title I was thinking of the Cruel Summer song by Bananarama becomes I’m an 80’s kid! lol…but I remember Taylor Swift has a song called Cruel Summer too.

It’s a Cruel Summer ~ Books That Take Place the Summer Before School Starts

Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer—they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Love & Gelatocomes a poignant and romantic novel about two teens trying to find their place in the world after being unceremoniously dragged to Salem, Massachusetts, for the summer.

Willow has never felt like she belonged anywhere and is convinced that the only way to find a true home is to travel the world. But her plans to act on her dream are put on hold when her aloof and often absent mother drags Willow to Salem, Massachusetts, to wrap up the affairs of an aunt Willow didn’t even know she had. An aunt who may or may not have been a witch.

There, she meets Mason, a loner who’s always felt out of place and has been in and out of foster homes his entire life. He’s been classified as one of the runaways, constantly searching for ways to make it back to his mom; even if she can’t take care of him, it’s his job to try and take care of her. Isn’t it?

Naturally pulled to one another, Willow and Mason set out across Salem to discover the secret past of Willow’s mother, her aunt, and the ambiguous history of her family. During all of this, the two can’t help but act on their natural connection. But with the amount of baggage between them—and Willow’s growing conviction her family might be cursed—can they manage to hold onto each other?

After spending most of high school as the quiet girl, Ellie Kobata is ready to take some risks and have a life-changing summer, starting with her Anti-Wallflower List—thirteen items she’s going to check off one by one. But when number four on Ellie’s list goes horribly wrong—revenge on Jack Yasuda—she’s certain her summer has gone from charmed to cursed. Instead of a road trip with Lia, Ellie finds herself stuck in a car with Jack driving to a magical convention. But as Ellie and Jack travel down the coast of California, number thirteen on her list—fall in love—may be happening without her realizing it.

In The Charmed List, Julie Abe sweeps readers away to a secret magical world, complete with cupcakes and tea with added sparks of joy, and an enchanted cottage where you can dance under the stars.

A fellow lover of music—and hater of the game—Fen Sarafian has been ousted from the family and is slumming it at a vinyl record shop. From the author of The Best Laid Plans comes another fresh voiced, hilarious rom-com perfect for fans of Tweet Cute and The Rest of the Story.

Penny Harris just ruined her life.

As one of the most popular girls in school, she’s used to being invited to every party, is dating the Jordan Parker, and can’t wait to rule senior year with her best friend, Olivia. But when Penny wakes up on Jordan’s lawn the morning after his first-day-of-summer bash, she knows something went terribly wrong the night before.

She kissed Kai Tanaka.

Kai, her long-time nemesis. Kai, Olivia’s boyfriend. Penny can’t figure out what could have inspired her to do it–she loves Jordan and she would never hurt Olivia–but one thing’s for sure: freshly dumped, and out a best friend, the idyllic summer she pictured is over.

And despite the fact that Jordan seems to be seeking comfort (and a whole lot more) in Olivia, all Penny can think about is winning him back. Kai wants to save his relationship too, so they come up with a plan: convince their friends that they really do have feelings for each other. After all, no one can resist a good love story, and maybe seeing Penny and Kai together will make Jordan and Olivia change their minds.

But as summer heats up, so does Penny and Kai’s “relationship,” and Penny starts to question whether she’s truly faking it with Kai, if he’s really as terrible as she always thought he was, and if the life she’s fighting so hard to get back is the one she really wants.

But this summer, Moon also takes a job as the “merch girl” on a tour bus full of beautiful influencers and her fate begins to shift in the best way possible.

She even starts to question her destiny as the unnoticed, unloved wallflower she always thought she was.

Could this summer change Moon’s life as she knows it?
