Bookish Goals for 2024  | TTT | 1/16/24

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Please check out her website for more TTT topics!

This week’s topic is:

Bookish Goals for 2024

Honestly, I don’t have any goals for 2024 but just to get through this year. 2023 was filled with so many issues for myself, friends and family and it was stressful! This year will be a little more of the same with me worrying about the health of those I love. I feel like the stress of 2023 really hindered my enjoyment of reading in the second half of 2023 so I want to go into 2024 without too many goals:

#1 – read books I actually want to read, and try not to force it if I’m not feeling a book

#2 – take breaks from blogging when needed

#3 -request less arcs 🙃 (actually did request less in 2023 so I know I can do this)

And that’s all I got really! I want to enjoy reading again and sometimes I think because of all the arcs I sign up for – I find myself not enjoying reading as much.

What are your goals?

What’s on your TTT?

  1. I totally agree that having too many ARCs can lead to you not enjoying books so much. I’ve felt pressured to read ARCsand that affects how much I enjoy them. My aim is to only request one book a week by publication date. It doesn’t always work as I had 6 for February but the aim is there😃

    1. I think I had about 6 for February too! I have 4 for March and then honestly…that’s about it so far, maybe 2 for April and 1 for May and I might keep it that way so I can focus on some new releases that I didn’t get arcs for this year. Then maybe request a bunch for the second half of 2024.

  2. I definitely get the arc one! I feel like I am behind with them all the time. Good luck with your goals this year!

  3. I’m so with you on #1! I’m surprised that I’ve actually been doing it this year cos in previous ones I’d say that and then immediately not do it and keep forcing myself to finish books I really don’t enjoy! 😂 Good luck with these goals and have an amazing reading year ahead!

  4. I hope that 2024 will be a little less stressful for you! 2023 was tough health wise for myself and family too. ARC’s can really put the pressure on if there’s too many! Good luck with all of these!

    My Top Ten!

    1. Thanks so much! I hope 2024 will be less stressful for everyone and yes ARC’s definitely put pressure on reading and I’m glad to see my NetGalley book shelf right now looks pretty sparse compared to years before lol.

      1. You’re welcome! Yeah, we all need a chill year! Oh yeah, mine too!! I’ve got 5 on there and 1 is a kids book and 2 don’t come out until summer! It’s probably neve been like this! haha

  5. Those goals are definitely important! I found that out pretty fast at my very first attempt on having a review blog (prior my current one). Pressure is just not much fun! Keep going and keep the fun with reading! 🙂
