Content Warning:

+ The narrator really brought this magical story to life. I loved how she did all the voices, she infused so much life in these characters! I would say the beautiful prose made this magical story feel very lush!

+ I don’t usually vibe with cozy fantasies because they move too slow but this one was very enjoyable because it reads like a fairytale! The story of Demelza who is basically the runt of the litter, the swan born without wings, she can’t sing at all and she is not the most beautiful, so she leaves her family and ends up in a bridal competition for Prince Arris’ hand in marriage.

+ The characters were all very interesting and their interactions were funny! I found myself laughing out loud a few times. There are many relationships I found very fun in this story, especially Arris and his sister Yvelle. Demelza also makes friends with a lot of the girls in the competition. Also Demelza has a complicated relationship with her own parents. Her dad being a powerful sorcerer who wants more power. I like how all these different relationships were explored in the story.

+ This felt more like a friends to lovers romance because Aris finds out that Demelza is just there to escape her parents but she has the power to make people tell the truth, so he enlists her help to report on the contestants so he knows who is the best candidate as his bride. But the more they spend time together, the more the feelings grow. And I say friends because Aris is kissing all these girls left and right and sometimes he’s feeling a girl, but eventually in the end, it’s Demelza the girl he is so comfortable with that wins his heart.

Final Thoughts:

I love the narrator and her story-telling. I love the prose and how the story was magical, cozy, heart warming and funny. I enjoyed this enchanting fairytale!

+ The narrator did amazing doing the voices for this story! I like how she had an accent for Millie and a different voice for Nina – it helped me distinguish the main characters.

+ I like how this story was a quick read and it is engaging too! The story starts off with Millie’s perspective. She’s the new live-in housemaid for the Winchester’s but she has a mysterious past – all we know is that she used to be in prison. Throughout the story she’s grateful to have a job and a place to live but Nina, her employer is always gaslighting her! The only person nice to her in the house is Nina’s husband Andy.

+ The second half of the story we get Nina’s perspective and I thought it was a fun twist in this mysterious and suspenseful story. The ending is unexpected but I enjoyed this story a lot.

Final Thoughts:

I wanted to read this before the movie comes out and I’m glad I listened to it as an audiobook because it was really entertaining. I like the build up, the mystery and all the suspense at the end, plus the twist!

+ The narrators for this story are perfect and they really brought these characters to life! I loved their voices so much. It’s exactly how I imagined Guinevere and Oskar would sound.

+ Oskar is the grumpiest half-orc ever; his attitude made me laugh so much. Guinevere is his total opposite, she’s a young lady raised in a merchant family and on her way to her fiancé – a lord. The two of them together were so funny and cute! I loved how Guinevere was always trying to behave as a young lady on this rough journey. There is banter, and then some spicy moments too. I adore the both of them!

+ This story is filled with travel and lots of adventure and I loved seeing Guinevere who is prim and proper grow so much. She went from someone who was always people pleasing (really wanted to please her parents), to someone who fought for what she wanted – Oskar. As for Oskar, he was a half-orc with a soft heart even if he was sarcastic and grumpy!

Final Thoughts:

I loved everything about this audiobook – the narrators are fantastic, and the story is filled with adventure, swoony romance, spice and so much humor. I love Oskar and Guinevere. I’m so glad I listened to this one!

+ Willow is all alone and she runs a shop of magical items – or at least that is what is advertised. Willow knows nothing in that shop is magical until one day, a person comes in, Brianna, touches an object and makes it magical. From then on Willow concocts a plan to use Bri’s help to turn the stuff in her shop into magical objects so that Willow can finally turn a profit and pay her bills.

+ This is a cozy fantasy filled with magic and the possibilities it can bring. Willow is all alone with only Finlay as her best friend, but when Brianna comes along it opens her up to a new friendship and learning to trust others. Willow has this mindset of thinking she’s a charlatan and a thief but mostly because she’s had to do it to survive. I like how her world opens up when magic is part of her world. There is also a quest in this story that brings Brianna, Willow and Finlay together.

+ The romance isn’t the focus and it’s a sweet romance. Finlay is clearly in love with Willow but he let’s Willow set the pace, even when she doesn’t know what she really wants or deserves.

~ If you aren’t into cozy fantasy, you might find this a slow read especially in the beginning as all they are doing is cleaning the shop and trying to find a grimoire to help break Brianna’s curse. It picks up a little more at the halfway point where Willow takes on another quest.
