My oldest nephew graduated from high school yesterday! Woohoo! But it was a long night for me and the kids since the venue was a bit far, a little long and since we live in Hawaii, it is custom to find the graduate and give him leis. Fresh flower leis are so pricey these days and I don’t have a plumeria tree to make my own leis from the flowers so instead I made yarn and ribbon leis. I was making them all last week actually.
I made this eye lash yarn lei which was super easy and you can find lots of tutorials on youtube. His school colors and it’s my alma mater too is Maroon and White. I also tried my hand and making ribbon leis, which I found super relaxing to do. I even taught my mom so she could make a bunch for him also.
Then I made one more lei using this other yarn that reminded me of feathers. Anyway I think he had enough leis. Hawaii goes all out with giving leis. I remember my high school graduation where I could barely see out of the leis around me. 😅 Fun times!
This week is the LAST week of school for public school kids so I am excited, and my kids are excited. Then we have a few parties this weekend, a birthday and a graduation one…then we go on our trip! I’m kind of freaking out, just trying to make sure I have EVERYTHING for the trip. It helps that if I forget anything we are staying with my husband anyway and we can get it there…but I’m just more anxious about making sure things like passports don’t get lost.
Never Have I Ever – Season 3 (Netflix) – I felt like laughing and this show always makes me giggle. Looking forward to the next season, and I’m sad it will be the last one!
XO, Kitty (Netflix) – aw I love that Kitty from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before gets her own show! Kitty was always so quirky and now she’s grown up and moved to Korea to attend the same school as her long-distance boyfriend. It’s like an American K-Drama, and it has so much romance drama – maybe too much of it. I binged it in one day because the episodes are short but I thought it was cute and I’m team enemies to lovers, Kitty and Min Ho. 😅 But I felt so bad for Dae’s storyline – poor guy!

It’s Senior Week, that magical in-between time after classes have ended but before graduation, chock-full of gimmicky theme parties, last-minute bonding, and family traditions. Olivia couldn’t be more ready. Class salutatorian and confident in her future at LSU, she’s poised to sail through to the next phase of her life.

Sure, certain members of the golf team are none too pleased with Olivia’s sudden “passion” for the game. And sure, a very cute, very off-limits boy keeps popping up in Olivia’s orbit. But she is focused! She has a schedule and a plan! Nothing can possibly go wrong . . . right?

How did I not realize this is from the same author as 10 Blind Dates until after I read the book?! I loved 10 Blind Dates and I think the author is on a roll with these family themed stories.
This is a really cute, fun and heart-warming coming of age story. Olivia comes from a tight-knit community and an even tighter large family, which made this story very wholesome. I loved the family aspects of the story because I could relate to growing up with all my cousins around me. Plus her cousin Charlie is the life of the party. I love her close bonds with Charlie, Sophie and her boyfriend Wes.
Olivia gets caught in a big dilemma and instead of telling her parents the truth, she tries to fix the situation by making up class hours and lying to them and almost everyone else she knows (except Charlie, Sophie and Wes). It was super funny when it was Charlie’s turn to help her out. And what is up with Olivia’s mom? I thought my parents were strict but maybe it’s a good thing I grew up in the age of no technology because if my mom tracked me back then – I’d be in a lot of trouble lol. I just thought her mom was so overbearing. Also I don’t think I’ve read a book with golf in it!
The romance is cute, the graduation events and parties sound like so much fun, and it ends happily.

This one has been on my TBR for awhile so I’m glad I get to cross it off my list! I thought it was a cute book about family and graduation. I think I read it at the right time too since it’s graduation time!

This is one of the hyped books that was circulating around the past 2 years and I can see why it is so loved. It’s kind of a cozy contemporary fantasy which was just so very sweet in its message about being different and having the right to be loved and have a good, safe life despite being so different. It’s a beautiful message.
I also found it to have so many funny moments, especially because the kids have such strong personalities. I found myself laughing as I listened to this book as an audiobook. And let me say that the narrator did a splendid job doing all the different voices for the characters. I thought Linus was a great character who is one way in the beginning and we see so much growth in him as he goes to investigate the orphanage. I really love how he is this guy who basically lives by his routine and that all changes for him when he meets these kids. There is even a love story for him which was the sweetest. I do say Linus has the greatest taste in vinyl music! I knew every record he mentioned and loved because it’s the music my dad and grandpa would play on their record players back in the 1980’s.
It did take me a few days to get through this one only because I think I wasn’t quite in the mood for a story like this. I was reading enemies to lovers romances in between listening to this one, so I think if I wasn’t in the right mood to listen to it and if I wasn’t rushing for the sake of finishing it before my borrowing time was up, I would have enjoyed it more. But the story did grow on me and the message is a beautiful one.

My Thoughts:
I’m glad I finally got to see what the hype was about with this book. I can see why so many fell in love with it. I fell in love with the children too and was so happy when Linus stood up for them. If you want a book to give you cozy, fuzzy feelings then definitely read this book.

Horror and thrillers are not what I usually read but I wanted to delve more into the genre this year and requested this one. Here’s what I thought:
+ I like how quickly the ball gets rolling in this story. I was thrown into, trying to get my bearings and figure out what is going on and things happen very quickly in this book. Plus it’s barely over 200 pages so it’s a VERY quick read.
+ There are three best friends Nova, Vin and Lotus who seem like good kids that are just going to do some major studying at some secluded farmhouse. They have big dreams after graduation so this big study weekend is important but then things start happening. Lotus gets mysterious texts. Nova and Vin get hurt…but who is doing all of this?
+ I thought the twist in the story was clever. I like how as the story moves along we dig deeper into everyones secrets and there are a lot! I felt like the story made me ask who is the real villain?
~ I think at times the story moved way too fast, for example in the beginning – but I think it was to throw the reader off because I assumed all kinds of things between the three friends before knowing the truth. So it did throw me off but it also felt like I missed something as I was reading, which was a little jarring.
~ Definitely for younger readers, minus the whole student/teacher relationship scandal situation going on! At times it reminded me of the movie Scream because they were alone in the house with someone out there messing with them.
~ I don’t think the title matched the story. Who is the stranger here? Because they figure out who was messing with them. I didn’t think the story was super scary, but definitely suspenseful.

The story didn’t wow me or give me major thrills and chills, though I did like the plot twist, but I think if you go into it just to have a little suspenseful fun then you will enjoy it. This one is a super quick read and you may enjoy it if you are into Scream.

This is an easy one lol…
Being a single mom right now…my husband is in Okinawa and I’m juggling everything. So I’m tired…
2. When I sit down to read in the day, it makes me so sleepy I take a nap. And I’m usually exhausted by 9pm so I haven’t been reading past midnight unless it’s a book I can’t put down, like when I read Fourth Wing. Other than that, I’ve been sleeping early when I can!
3. I’m still trying to stay on top of my blood pressure and cholesterol (why does getting older suck? lol)…but this means I’m on still running on decaf, which isn’t much! And if I do happen to go for a full caff drink, I’ll be wired enough to do everything, but the crash at night is hard!
4. I’m in the mood for enemies to lovers romances and GOOD ones…but when it’s not good, it kills my reading mood. Also I just read a good one and now I’m in a book hangover – it’s a vicious cycle lol…
5. The end of May…I have a lot coming up including my kids last 2 weeks of school and all their class end of school parties, my nephew graduating on Saturday and then his graduation party, and packing for our Okinawa trip in 2 weeks! My calendar is kind of filled with STUFF…😩
