Aloha friends!

This is it – the last day of July! 😩 Back to school for my son tomorrow and orientation week for my daughter so…here we go….

But this does mean, I finally get a few hours away from my kids FINALLY starting the second week of August. I don’t know how to act. 😅

Oh another thing I did the past few days was make an effort to update the graphics on my blog. I think I got it to where I will be happy with it for some time. (I hope.)

Aloha friends!

I feel like this past week was the last one of summer for me! This week starts a very busy week – my hubby is getting hernia surgery, my daughter goes for her Kindergarten placement test, and we got school t-shirt uniform pick and teacher meet and greet for my son on Friday! Gonna try and haul all his supplies on that day too. And that’s it, school starts for my kids on August 1st (for my 4th grader), my daughter will get a tour and orientation and a half day of school and then she starts full on August 8th.

Where has the summer gone? 😢 I’m mentally preparing myself for…everything! How was your week? Can you believe July is coming to an end soon?

Shows/Movies I Watched:

  • Persuasion (Netflix) – a very cheeky, modern-ish version of Persuasion. It’s not going to please anyone who wants the movie to be exactly like the book but I think Dakota Johnson is funny and beautiful. Also Henry Golding is gorgeous! I kept an open mind and enjoyed it enough. My favorite Persuasion is still the one that was made in 1995. Now if they remade that one exactly I would be so happy.
  • Mystic Pizza (cable tv) – I have loved the movie Mystic Pizza since I was a teenager! I’ll never get tired of watching it.

Games I Played:

  • My Singing Monsters
  • Just Dance – doing my cardio again

Aloha friends!

Today is my 11th wedding anniversary and my hubby, kids and I are going to do a buffet brunch together. Now we had a lovely week that started off with A Peanuts Adventure event at the Ala Moana Shopping Center in Honolulu. Now Charlie Brown and Snoopy is what my hubby and I grew up with as kids. Our kids know Snoopy since he’s iconic but never had the patience to sit down and watch any Charlie Brown specials. But we had SO much fun. The goal was to download and app and find clues around the event. We found all the clues and they really did a great job inside the event!

Here are some pics from the event:

There were about 8 rooms to explore and there were some characters in some rooms that you could take photos with like Snoopy, Lucy and Charlie Brown! There was a Winter Dance room with a lit up dance floor – too much fun! We found all the clues and yes the staff helps you out lol.

Aloha friends!

We didn’t celebrate much for the 4th of July. With all that’s going on in the country it felt somber for us. So instead my family and I went to the Beyond Monet exhibit because my husband loves Monet. Then we went to the mall to visit the newly opened Oreo Cafe which is part of the It’s Sugar candy store.

Here are some pics from the Beyond Monet event:

It was way smaller than the Beyond Van Gogh event I think. My daughter concluded her favorite was the Van Gogh one because of Starry Night. But now she has two shirts from both events that she can wear obsessively lol. She is my little artist.

Here are some pics from the Oreo Cafe and It’s Sugar!

Sugar rush! My sister met us there so she bought my kiddos some candy. Not too much – thank goodness my kids aren’t big on hard candies. Chocolate though? They love.

Aloha friends!

It’s been such a fun and busy weekend for my family. My sister and mom came to sleep over at my house since my sister’s husband and her sons went to Los Angeles for the weekend! We went to the pool, and got some lunch at the mall. My dog had 2 more extra people to love on – he LOVES his grandma and aunty. 😅 My daughter monopolized her aunt’s time which was cute but she cried when they left the next day. 🥺

I cannot believe it’s July – this means I have to go back to school shopping. 😩 My kids start school on August 1st. My daughter finally starts Kindergarten and wow…that means it will be just me and the dog alone in the house for 5 hours. I don’t know how to act! lol…

Shows/Movies I Watched:

  • Sing 2 (Netflix)– had some movie time with my daughter, this was cute and loved all the music.
  • Ron’s Gone Wrong (Disney+) – my son wanted to do movie time with us too and the kids decided on this one. We loved it!
  • Inside Out (Disney+) – my son wanted to watch this movie again – first time he saw it, he was younger and it made him too sad and he couldn’t watch the whole thing. He saw it on the last day of 3rd grade and it resonated with him more and he wanted to watch it again. My daughter was too scared of the emotional scenes so it was my son and I who wanted the whole thing.
  • Stranger Things 4 Pt. 2 (Netflix) – the last episode is just so EPIC! That scene when Eddie plays Master of Puppets by Metallica had me transported to my teenhood when I was a big Metallica fan. Like they scared me but their music was so good. And my other favorite part was when they were killing or hurting Vecna and his “hive mind”. So many heroes but it was heart-wrenching too. I hope season 5 comes out next year. I love this show!

Games I Played:

  • My Singing Monsters
  • Wii Sports – just to get moving – doesn’t make me move much really lol…I need to start up Just Dance again to get my cardio in. I stopped when I got back from Vegas and had covid. And haven’t done it since which is mad so new month, new fitness goals!

Aloha friends!

So on Father’s Day we went to my parents house and had a quick lunch with the family. After that I took my hubby and kids to the Hawaii Cat Cafe. We have a dog, Atlas, who we love dearly but my hubby grew up with cats and my daughter has been asking for a cat. I told them I’m not doing 2 pets at a time if I’m the one who will be the main caretaker. Atlas was supposed to be my son’s dog, but that dog will only sleep with me 😅. So since we can’t have a cat…YET…I took them to the cat cafe so they could plat with lots of kitties for an hour.

We had the best time! My son wanted to go back today but I said it’s not free lol..I did have to pay per person. My son didn’t think he’d be a cat person, he always thought them having sharp claws was scary. And the claws did come out on one kitty who was falling off my daughter’s lap so he tried to hang on, catching her on the wrist. But I reminded him how when Atlas was a puppy his nails and baby teeth were so sharp and he got them a few times. I’m glad I brought them and it was a surprise too lol…they had no clue where I was taking them! 🥰

It’s been a busy week but at least we got some time to relax at the pool also. I hope you had a great week!

  • Love & Gelato (Netflix) – aw so cute! I read this book so long ago but I love the Rome scenes in this movie.
  • The Summer I Turned Pretty (Amazon Prime Video) – I’m hooked and ready for season 2!

Games I Played:

  • My Singing Monsters
  • Wii Play – my son has been obsessed with getting a Nintendo Wii again and I don’t know why! We used to have one before he was born and then when he was 5 he tried it out and wasn’t totally into it. Ours broke and then just recently has been asking for one again and I said it’s an old console and they don’t sell it anymore! Thank goodness my nephew still had the one I gave him years ago and he said my son could have it. So we’ve been playing on the Wii.

Aloha friends!

Nothing new happened this week – got some errands and organizing done. We have a wasp situation at our house – my mom got stung about 3 weeks ago while trying to remove her sweet potato plant in my backyard (they don’t live with me, but we have a big backyard so they like to plant stuff in it lol).

I’ve lived in this house for almost 8 years now and usually summer time means a wasp here and there. No one has ever gotten stung until now. We have mud wasps that build these little mud tunnels around our front door and back door…and if we did have a wasp build a comb – it’s one wasp, on a very small comb. But this year we had a big one wasp comb above our balcony which just got sprayed. But my dad also found they are living near the sweet potato plant in the ground, which he just removed. So I hope they stay away now? But they seem to be flying all over my backyard now – UGH. Can they just please go away? Hopefully they decide to build their comb somewhere else. 🥴 Animals sure do love my house! First it was a huge bird nest under our solar panel and now this…😅.

Today is Father’s Day and I wanted to treat my husband to a buffet brunch but the restaurant was booked up until July 3rd! So that’s when we will celebrate Father’s Day and his very very belated birthday. I hope you guys have a nice time celebrating Father’s Day!

Shows/Movies I Watched:

  • Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey (Netflix) – every time I hear testimonies about the FLDS it reminds me when it was happening in real time on the news and how disgusted I was with the marrying of very young girls. So glad they can share their experiences but what a toll that community took on people on their lives.
  • Hustle (Netflix) – such a good sports movie. It’s a basketball movie and honestly the last time I loved basketball was when I was young because Michael Jordan and the Bulls were so dominant. That was the only time I loved basketball. But this Adam Sandler movie is good, tense, and inspirational!
  • Halftime (Netflix) – this came out right after Hustle and I just let it play since I was blogging plus I love J.Lo – her music makes me dance and I wish I had her body! Also I grew up with her when she was a dancer on In Living Color and then she played Selena. She’s come a long way, such an icon!

Games I Played:

  • My Singing Monsters

Music I Listened To:

  • Stranger Things 4 Soundtrack – so good and nostalgic, reminds me of my childhood.

Aloha friends!

Another week has passed and the deeper into summer we get! My husband and I are recovered from Covid – so that means I’ve been trying to keep my kiddos entertained this summer break. Going out means spending money (usually) and with everything at a high cost, we’ve been home or doing stuff like going to the pool.

I have been catching up on reading, which is nice though. I can’t believe if we had gone on our east coast trip, we would still be there! It’s been a long unexpected 2 weeks

Weekly Wrap Up | 6/5/22

Aloha friends!

Today I was supposed to be in Philadelphia and attending my husband’s friend’s wedding. I am not there. We are not there because I got covid from my Vegas trip last weekend.

But speaking of Vegas…

We stayed at the Park MGM which was nice because it’s smoke-free, I have enough allergies to deal with already. I felt like such a newb everywhere because so many things are digital and I thought I was pretty up to par on my tech skills. But here is my friend using her apple wallet for everything lol…and I don’t even trust putting my cards on a phone.

The hotel rooms were nice, but I wished it had a mini-fridge because we were drinking so much water. It’s so important to hydrate when traveling. Eataly fronts the hotel which is nice, we got some dessert there. Usually it was so packed though so I never really got a meal there. We ate at a few places near the hotel. We tried to go further than our hotel but it was so hot in the day and honestly we were just tired from walking so much in the hotel itself. Plus, even though I loved the bed and pillows, I could not sleep – maybe because I was in a new place? Or jet lag?

The Silk Sonic concert was amazing! The crowd was grooving to everything and Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak are such hams on stage! They crack me up with being so extra – I used to think Andy’s wig was not it, but it puts him into his Silk Sonic persona and now I love it. They vibe so well together and sing….SING?! They can SING. The harmonies, the dance movies, the remixes to the songs…they are just on another level. I wish the whole world could see it – like make it a tv special like Bruno did for the 24K album at the Apollo Theater? I want to see it again. There was a moment in the concert when they sang Love’s Train and I swear every person in the crowd was grooving – that music just makes you move. The whole stage set was a 70’s vibe, the lights, costumes, just everything was so well put.

I had the best time and I had the mental break I needed. I love my family but wow was it nice not to wash dishes or do laundry and just have fun! Now if only covid would stop hindering my plans so I can do more traveling. Yes on the flight home my nose started to run and my throat started to itch. Got home and tested right away but after 15 minutes the result was negative! Woke up coughing a lot – took another test and that one was totally positive. So my week was sleep, sleep, sleep – texting everyone, drink lots of water, and chamomile tea with honey, watch my kids stay 6 feet away from me. My dog cuddled me everyday- he knows something is wrong with me. Bless his heart. 🥺 My hubby’s birthday was on Monday and all I did was sleep and he bought himself a birthday cake. We were supposed to fly to Philly and New York for 2 weeks but we had to reschedule which means he misses his friend’s wedding. SIGH. I feel awful. He did reschedule the trip for November though so we shall try again and at least the kids will see the changing leaves – they have never experienced Autumn.

My covid week was filled with LOTS of sleeping, a runny nose, a slight headache due to sinus congestion, and coughing – not a lot of coughing but enough to get some phlegm out. I also managed to binge Stranger Things 4 – but I did sleep a lot. Now my hubby has covid and I’m taking care of the kids and got to cleaning the house, which made me feel lots better.

Weekly Wrap Up | 5/22/22

Aloha friends!

I managed to finish a few books this week! More than last week at least. So my week was pretty mild. Now this Friday I’ll be on a plane to Las Vegas and seeing Silk Sonic in concert on Saturday night. My bestie and I plan to do a little gambling, get a massage, eat, dance, sleep and then hop back on a plane to Hawaii on Sunday. 😅 I’m so excited! This is my first trip in 10 years and my first weekend away from my kids ever. After Las Vegas, I come home for 2 days- unwind as best I can, do laundry, clean the house, do last minute shopping and then hop on a plane to Philadelphia. I hope my body can handle all these flights and time changes. And I pray I stay healthy! 🙏🏼

Hope you had a good week and have a nice new week!
