Weekly Wrap Up | 10/09/22

Aloha friends!

My kids were on fall break and honestly we didn’t do much. I’ve been just trying to make sure my daughter got healthy this week so she can start off Monday on a clean slate, no cold. But I do think she’s dealing with allergies – she has a post nasal drip that causes her to cough. So just trying to deal with that and so far she’s so much better! My son recovered nicely from his sore throat episode and good thing too since their October is packed with school activities.

I did get some reading done which is nice and we did do a family outing nearby to the Kroc Center which held an Kroctober Fest.

Weekly Wrap Up | 10/02/22

Aloha friends!

Last week was a hard week for me. My daughter was at the tail end of her flu when my son then got sick AGAIN but this time with a super sore throat that was not flu, strep or covid…I think it was laryngitis. So he was home with me for 3 days. But to top that off I had the worst muscle knot in my neck/shoulder/back….and to top THAT off, my neighbor told me the ambulance we saw last Saturday night was because her husband passed away. The husband that cut the grass 3x a week and I would say hi to him almost daily…really nice guy who was enjoying his retirement. I just saw him last month but he was limping and I was caring for a sick household so I was inside a lot. I had no idea he was sick, though now that I think back 3 months ago he told me he was hard of hearing (that was new) and I saw him limping last month. His wife told me they found out he had glioblastoma brain cancer and they only found out this summer. He was deteriorating so fast and had no clue why until his wife insisted on an MRI. And like that…in a few months without me even knowing he was that ill…he’s gone. 💔🥺

The pain in my shoulder, my son getting sick and the news of my neighbor happened on Monday (pain in my heart). I was done for the week. So I was sad and am still sad every time I look at their house and imagine what they are going through.

I hope my kids get this week to heal their bodies from illnesses going around I know it’s that time of the year but we need a break. I need a break!

Anyway, I hope all of you had a better week than I did! I did manage to read some books at least!

Weekly Wrap Up | 9/25/22

Aloha friends!

Well, brought my kids last week to urgent care just to make sure their cough wasn’t anything worst. Dr said their lungs sounded clear and it’s just a cold…well, they went to school on Monday, and my daughter came back home with a 102 fever. SIGH…she’s been sick all of September! So I brought her back to urgent care because I couldn’t for the life of me get through to her pediatrician’s office. Urgent care was so busy with kids that sounded like her 🤦🏻‍♀️ – this time we got another doctor and I told him, she’s been having a fever once a week so he said okay let’s test her for covid (tested her all month and she’s been negative each time), test her for flu and test her for a UTI. She was positive for FLU so she missed another 4 days of school totaling 12 missed days of school already in only the first 2 months of school. 😅

My son is over his cold thank goodness. I’m praying for a better, healthier, no illnesses for the rest of the year. 🙏🏼

Anyway – this whole month stressed me out seeing my kids sick so I feel so much tension in my upper back. It was hurting me all week until I forced myself to stretch it out. I need a massage!

Music I Listened To:

BLACKPINK – finally got a chance to listen to their new album on repeat. I don’t know why but Happiest Girl makes me want to cry. That one is on repeat maybe because I had a hard month lol. Also this song always reminds of that moment in a book…for example a contemporary YA romance where the girl is at her lowest, maybe the guy breaks her heart, etc…and this is the moment she has to stop crying and show her face to the world. You know what I’m talking about lol…that moment in a teen movie where it’s prom and the girl shows up alone or whatever LOL…this song needs to play at that exact moment.

Weekly Wrap Up | 9/18/22

Aloha friends!

My kids were sick most of the week so…I was Nurse mom basically. There was lots of tissues, snot and coughing. 😩 I did get to read some books while I was caring for the kids at least.

We finally got the day of when my husband has to be in Okinawa, Japan for work. Dunno if I mentioned it here, but he applied to a few jobs (he works for the federal government)…because he needed something new. He’s been at his position for the past 10 or 11 years? And he needed just something new and applied to many other jobs here but wasn’t getting offers. He applied to 2 contracts in job contracts in Japan and got both, but chose to go with the one in Okinawa. He has to be there by December 9th SO…it’s going to be a count down starting November. We have our postponed East Coast trip to visit his family mid November, for 2 weeks, then we come back to Hawaii, he does his final packing and will be gone.

I decided not to uproot our life here because we have a house, our dog, kids who just started the school year and it would have been really short notice to move overseas…plus it’s only a 2 year contract. Our plan is just to keep the family chugging along, with daddy long distance and we are already trying to plan a visit or a few visits if we can budget it out. And since I have to go to Okinawa, this will be my time to explore Japan! I’m excited, and somewhat stressed out too that I’ll be living the single-parenting life for a little while, but yeah…it will go by fast. At least I hope it will. Just gotta hold down the fort – as usual lol.

  • Splatoon 3 – I love it, but still hate the communication errors and I’ve been having way more of these than when I used to play Splatoon 2. So is it because they need to fix some things on it? Not sure but I still try and play it. But if I get too many connection errors, I stop.

Weekly Wrap Up | 9/11/22

I actually had time to read this week, yay! It was still a long week – my sprinklers by the sidewalk is finally fixed, the tree roots damaged the pipe there. Boo! But I’m just glad it’s fixed. It was a short school week but for some reason felt long to me. Then I had to run around on Saturday with an orthodontist appointment for me son and a pool party for my daughter’s classmate. They were both supposed to have Sunday school today but my daughter is running a low grade fever since we got caught in the rain at the pool party. We were wet…which was fine since we were in the pool, but the cold because the sun was setting by then…so not good. We both got chilled but she’s the one with the fever today. My son woke up with allergies that are making him sniffle and cough (he kind of still has a lingering cough from having covid last month). So yes…sick kids again! lol…it never seems to end. Hope all of you are staying healthy!

Here we are in September and things are just nonstop busy…STILL. I had dinner with friends yesterday which was fun, but also my daughter has a cold? I’ve been testing her for covid and it’s negative even though her cough sounds just like her brother did when he had covid. So I guess she has a cold with lots of coughing. Trying to get her better so she can go to school on Tuesday, because she loves school. Other than that, I didn’t have a chance to read much.

  • Partner Track (Netflix) – lawyer drama – I was getting so mad at Ingrid though! I love her besties Tyler and Rachel – their storylines were so good. It had a great ending though and can’t wait to watch season 2! I could never be a lawyer – too much stress!
  • Lord of the Rings – The Rings of Power (Amazon) – cinematography is gorgeous!

I’m loving all these fantasy shows out right now! House of Dragons is dark as heck…and The Rings of Power is more light than dark to me…so I love that I get both to keep me entertained.

Weekly Wrap Up | 8/28/22

Why is my calendar so full? My kids are well and back at school, my son turned 10 yesterday! We had some family over, food, cake and gifts. He’s hard to shop for because he pretty much has everything. I went to Target on Thursday and they had the Halloween aisles set and half filled! Wow…here come the holidays! Hope all of you had a good week – I hope I have a chill week this week!

  • Dune (Hbo/Max) – since I signed up for hbo/max I might as well watch all the movies on there that I’ve missed seeing. Dune was pretty epic! I’m not usually a sci-fi kinda of person but wow – the visuals were pretty amazing.

Weekly Wrap Up | 8/21/22

Aloha friends!

It was a COVID week for me. My son tested positive last Sunday and had to stay home all week from school. He is doing much better today, thank goodness – he had a fever the first 2 days and then the coughing. He’s coughing less now. It was a 4 day weekend for the kiddos anyway. My daughter also had to stay home from school because she’s a close contact – so she was bored and missed school a lot. I had to put on my nursing hat this week, one of many that moms wear lol…😅. It was a long week.

My son’s birthday is this Saturday so we’ll have a small celebration here at home with just our immediate family. I didn’t plan anything just in case my daughter caught Covid and had to quarantine for longer but so far she’s been negative. We’ll do something more fun for him labor day weekend probably.

Weekly Wrap Up | 8/14/22

Aloha friends!

I don’t know how I feel more tired with my kids in school?! I think because drop off and pick up is me leaving the house early in the morning and then waiting awhile in the car in the afternoon – why is school pick up always chaos?! My daughter loves school so much! So her sunburn on her nose is peeling – I’m curious to see how school pictures look – they were taken on Tuesday and I tried my hardest to cover it up with concealer and powder lol. Oh well, it is what it is! At least we’ll look at the picture and remember the weekend before picture taking and her skin is peeling now so it’s healing at least.

Our dog Atlas, has been getting more cuddle times with me and walks too. But he misses the kids, at night he plops right on top of my daughter’s legs to go to sleep.

Today we have another birthday party at an outdoor location – and I’m making her wear a hat! It is just too hot to be outside right now, and I need her skin to heal. Other than that, I’m just trying my best to keep chugging along. 😩 Our fridge stopped cooling down so I had to buy a mini fridge and I turned it off to defrost the whole thing (you know a restart lol) so let’s hope that works because it’s hard trying to find a repairman lately. Other things happened but I’m tired of the negative, so I’ll end it here.

Never Have I Ever (Season 3/Netflix) – I wish the episodes weren’t so short!!! 😭 I love this show and it made me laugh a lot – I needed laughs this week. And Devi has another hot boy to crush on? I don’t blame her, Des is a cutie!😍 I found myself saying omg…why is he so handsome?! lol…but okay how about that cliffhanger?!!!

Weekly Wrap Up | 8/7/22

Aloha friends!

What a week…it was bonkers. I did manage to complete a few books, which is good since I do have arcs to get through and library books too. This week was all about back to school for my kids and dealing with mornings, packing lunches, and busy school pick-up traffic 😣 (oh the usual!!). My daughter did get her kindergarten orientation and half day, I’m so proud of her! She’s officially in Kindergarten and I now have both kids in school. I hope they have an amazing year!

My family and I also had a pool party for a cousin who is here visiting from Ohio. I thought we were having blessed summer weather here in Hawaii, it’s been perfect and then August hit…and the wind has stopped, the humidity has kicked up. Yesterday at the pool my weather app said it was 87 degrees but felt like 95 degrees. And my daughter, who takes my husband’s side and has fair skin spent 4 hours in the pool because she didn’t want to leave her cousins. The max I usually stay at the pool with her is 1 hour. So yes her face today is sunburned! She even had a fever last night. And then…as if I had any energy to spare after the pool party, I had a concert to go to! 😣 I almost backed out but my friend offer to pick me up (which is out of her way). The humidity didn’t disappear and we walked from the venue to look for food…so by the time we were in the show my feet were killing me and I felt sticky. I This may show my age, but I went to the New Kids on the Block concert. Oh yes…I am a child of the 80’s and this was THE boy band that was popular. 😅 I loved New Edition too, another boy band from Boston. Boston was hot in the 80’s huh? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Obviously they don’t look like this anymore! LOL…and I don’t look I’m 10 years old so that’s fair! 🤣 I cannot believe this song came out in 1988. They are much older and Joey doesn’t have the high pitched boy voice anymore. You can tell it was a strain to perform lol, like Donnie Wahlberg was out of breath but hey…it was fun and they even played some 80’s and 90’s music to pump of the crowd. All their slow ballads reminded me of elementary school dances and crushing on boys!🥰

Now the opening act was TLC!!! And I was such a big fan because I was starting high school and these 3 ladies were all about woman empowerment, talking truthfully about sex, beauty standards, and even AIDS. Their music really made an impression on me and it was so sad Left-Eye is gone (she died in a plane crash years ago). Their songs really got me through high school. ❤️

Got home late because the traffic getting out of the venue so mid you I was exhausted and my daughter’s sunburn gave her a fever. My hubby said she was crying for me while I was at the concert 😭 so I gave her Tylenol and knocked out next to her. I woke up all achy so TODAY I get to rest and catch up on things.

So many things happened last week, I hope this week will be much more chill.

**I barely got this post ready for today lol…** so busy.😅
