I felt like July was the one month where it felt like it wasn’t going too fast or too slow, even though my husband surprised us with a last minute trip to visit us. We really relaxed this month, well…after my son got over Covid in the beginning of the month. So I had a good chance to read this month which was nice and I notice I was gravitating towards contemporary romance books!

I think I had a pretty good month!

How was your month?

June started off busy with an overnight stay, and my hubby being home for a little bit. Then my daughter and I getting sick after he left, and my son having his piano recital then his summer week-long program at his middle school. I feel like June just really started for us but actually now it’s over?! How can that be? 😅

How is it that my kids go back to school in 5 weeks? It’s too fast I tell you. And with these days just flying by me, I had no energy to read between being sick and then hitting lazy summer mode – is there such a thing as lazy summer mode when the kids are home? I feel like I haven’t been reading as much this year in general but that’s totally okay.

I finally had to request more books on NetGalley for the second half of 2024 because I realized I barely had any! Now I have a pretty decent list so hopefully they are good books! 🤞🏽

How was your month?

May went by in a flash it seems but at least my reading slump was broken! Yay! I was so busy in May with my daughter’s dance recital, my son’s graduation and my hubby coming home that I’m surprised I even managed to read any books.

A few anticipated reads for me did fall short of my expectations but there were a few surprises for me this month also. Here’s what I posted in May!

I did better this month in posting more book reviews. I did one blog tour and posted one book excerpt. I do feel like my reads are landing in the 3-3.5 stars range and I’m hoping to get some better reads in June but we’ll see if that happens. There isn’t many June releases I’m looking forward to, so maybe it will be a light reading month again.

How was your month?

April is over?! It’s been quite a month and actually a month I’m happy is done. I felt like April was the worst month of my reading slump and I feel like I’m slowly coming out of it. There was just so much stuff happening at the end of April – every time I tried to read at night, reading a page or two would put me to sleep!

May will actually be super busy for me so we’ll see if my slump is broken or not.

Yikes I only did 8 book review posts this month! I did read a few arcs who’s publication dates are later so I didn’t add them to the count but wow, I have REALLY slowed down in reading. I hope I can find some books that break me out of my slump this month.

How was your month?

March was filled with kids with colds and allergies, and just really trying to make it to spring break – which we did and still was dealing with allergies. But I’m just happy we got to have a break from school and extra-curricular activities for a little bit. Now comes the last 2 months of school, dance recital and 5th grade graduation.

I did get to read some good books this month, but a lot of just okay reads also. I do believe I was in a slump in the beginning of the month. I’m not sure if the slump is over yet or I’m just picking the wrong books.

February went by quick and was filled with so many activities and some illnesses but for the most part the month was good. As for books? I got some re-reading done and I was just working through arcs which for the most part were just okay reads. I have less arcs to read in the next few months so I hope I can read other books. But I had some really good reads in February which is nice!

How was your month?

January was about getting kids back into school and their tap and piano activities. Getting used to my hubby not being around again and then my daughter got the stomach flu in the second week of the month and then a cold on the last day of the month lol. My son at least has been illness free which is so nice!

As far as reading goes – I got to read all my arcs on time, which I’m proud of! There was a moment there I didn’t think I’d feel motivated enough to read them but I did.

December was madness – there was so much going on and I lost my desire to read while all these things were going on. I’m happy to say we all got through it and had a successful Christmas. Now it’s on to the New Year which is already going to come with it’s new set of challenges that I can foresee but here’s hoping we all have a good 2024!

I don’t know if it was my stressed out mood but a lot of books were just “okay” to me this month, one of them being one of my most anticipated reads for the year. But it is what it is, I probably just needed a good break from reading and come back fresh in January.

Half of November I was sick with what I think was the flu and then it flared into allergic rhinitis but I got better in time for my trip to Osaka, Japan! And that was the highlight of my month.🥰

As you can see, I barely did any reading this month. I was just too sick and unmotivated, plus I had to get ready for the trip. But I’m hoping I’ll have more motivation and energy to read in December when my kids get a break from school and my hubby comes to visit for three weeks! I’ll finally have some ME time.

How was your month in review?

Ah October – you were something! I spent half the month worrying about my mom’s procedure which was successful but they found more cancer – small tumors – the best option now is to have her do major surgery to remove her right kidney and ureter. 🙏🏼 Other things that happened was my son’s youtube channel hit 1,000 subs and it’s something I’ve been working on for him (because he sort of gave up on it)…but now he’s rejuvenated again and started posting content. So that was something good that happened this month. Then my kids got sick right before Halloween – and then I got sick. I survived Halloween trick or treating but after that it was like a truck ran over me. I don’t know if I had the flu or what. At first I thought it was just a bad cold I caught from the kids (also there was smoke in the air from a fire nearby) and that trick or treating just exhausted me. But the next day I had body chills and aches and really bad coughing.
