Ok my daughter and I are almost recovered from our cold. I’m almost at 100% and she’s at about 80% recovered – thank goodness. Why is being sick so exhausting? lol…anyway I did get some reading done and now I’m REALLY trying to push through some summer arcs. I’ve been pushing them aside because I was so busy then got sick but can I finally have my “relaxing” summer or is there no such thing because I’m already trying to make my back to school shopping list. 😅

What are you currently reading?

The Mirror of Beasts by. Alexandra Bracken – 2% in – I haven’t really worked on this one but I WILL this week since publication is coming up.

Shadows of Perl by. J. Elle – 2% just started this one, trying to get my bearings and remember what happened in book one.

A Game of Malice and Greed by. Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti – 4% in

House of Thorns by. Isabel Strychacz – 9% this one is fascinating so far, a sentient haunted house? A missing sister? Another sister on drugs and hearing the house calling her back? We’ll see where the story takes me…

A Magic Fierce & Bright by. Hemant Nayak – 10% in and I’m pushing through this one since publication is on July 8th. Interesting Indian based sci-fi fantasy so far…

I didn’t get to read much this week because it was packed with events! And then I think I caught a little cold or maybe it’s my allergies acting up since it’s been so windy here. But it’s making me feel a bit tad under the weather. Here are some books I’m looking forward to finishing up in the next 2 weeks.

The Mirror of Beasts by. Alexandra Bracken – 2% in – I haven’t really worked on this one since it’s publishing in July, so I have time but I’ll be jumping back into it soon.

The Rule Book by. Sarah Adams – I’ll have to re-borrow this one, my time expired on it.

Ghostsmith by. Nicki Pau Preto – I just got this one 2 days ago on Netgalley and moved it up on my reading list! 10% in.

I might be used to the humidity and heat in my house – this is the 3rd week without a/c! But no, it is uncomfortable to sleep at night when the humidity is high. Not even my dog can sleep comfortably and I’m trying to keep my kiddos hydrated and their electrolytes up so we don’t run into dehydration problems. My hubby is coming home on Saturday so we’ll see how much reading I can get done in the next 2 weeks. We have so many events to attend and stuff to do!😬

The heat is on – my ac is still not fixed 😅. And of course this week just started to get hot and himid sigh…it sucks but I’m amazed I had motivation to read since sitting and not moving means I don’t get super hot in the house so it’s actually good for reading! I finally broke my reading slump with contemporary romance! I’m trying to get back into fantasy but I feel like my brain is too tired to get into world-building, so I’m reading those book slower than usual.

I finally read some books this weekend! I think it’s because my daughter’s dance recital is finally done and I can really relax now until the end of the month that is haha. Maybe my slump is over? Or I just finally got the books I’ve been waiting for at the library!

**Update** – so I thought my body could relax but then my week started with my a/c unit crapping out again – so I am a little too warm and toasty in my house. Also our house alarm was acting up, alerting the company that our garage door is open when it’s not, etc…so yeahhhh maybe not so much a relaxing week so farm but I’m determined to stay positive about all this. 😅

I can’t believe I just realized all my WWW Wednesday posts this year said 2023 LOL. OH WOW – guess I have to change that. See, I told you my brain has been elsewhere this year. Anyway, it’s May and my kids end the school year in 4 weeks – they are so excited. My daughter has her big recital this weekend and this will be it for her ballet and tap days. She might be trying something more mellow, like hula next. We shall see!

Did I read more this week? Not really…but I’m glad I had some progress, really slow progress, but at least it’s progress.

I haven’t picked up a book all weekend because I’ve been streaming Taylor Swift’s new album and trying to decode the lyrics – it’s been a grower for me but so good! I can’t believe we are almost at the end of April. My daughter is going to be busy with her tap recital being next week so we have stage rehearsals this week. Not sure if I’ll finish any books this week but I do have an audiobook I can listen to.

Finally I am feeling much better! Still some congestion but most of the yuckiness and the coughing is gone thank goodness. But now my daughter has pink eye so yay…fun! Now I’m trying to avoid that lol. I haven’t posted much, I haven’t read much and if I did it was one or two pages and then I’d put the book down. I am a little off this week – my daughter caught her monthly cold last week, and then I think I have a bit of it or allergies. I can’t tell, but I feel funky – even woke up with vertigo yesterday, which SUCKS bad. I had to drain my sinuses which helped a lot. So I have a cough, post-nasal drip and just low energy. I feel like I’m in a reading slump, or I can’t seem to find the kind of book I want to read. Anyway, I’m pushing through some arcs, not a lot but I’d rather stay on top of them.

I feel like I’ve been a little sloppy with my posts too or scheduling them. I posted two Top Ten Tuesdays yesterday lol. 😅 Sorry about that.
