Dini’s Questions:

Describe your current read in five words:

chemistry – food – southern belle – italian hottie – competition

What is your go-to comfort genre?

I’m go to comfort genre will always be romance! Whenever I need a break from fantasy, I head on over to contemporary romance and it’s a much needed vacation for my brain.

What’s your favourite song at the moment?

The whole Encanto soundtrack lol

What’s been your favourite read of 2022 so far?

It’s a backlist title but I haven’t read a 2022 published book yet that has been a 5 star read….mostly because I haven’t bought any, but there are a few I’m eyeing out so hopefully I can get a hold of them soon.

Is there one book that you would do anything to get a special signed edition of?

A Jane Austen book lol which is impossible so maybe a Sarah J Maas one or Holly Black since I have their books on my shelf.

What’s a disappointing book that you’ve recently read?

I am struggling through this arc! It’s taking me forever and I thought her first book was good, but the last arc I read from this author and then this one I’m trying to finish has made me struggling to connect to any of the characters. I don’t know what it is. 😞

How long have you been blogging?

It will be 4 years of blogging this year – wow!! I feel like I just started 2 years ago. How time flies!

What are some of your favourite tropes?

Enemies to lovers is my absolutely favorite. I also love friends to lovers. Bad boy/good girl is always fun, I mean…it’s so hard to resist the bad boys!

Is there a (sub)genre that is an absolute no-no for you?

Reverse harem because I don’t like sharing LOL. Also bully romances – I used to read a few because it was very enemies to lovers…and then some. But now the “and then some” edge just makes me want to punch the guys’ face if he is too much of a bully, it makes me want to get violent in behalf of the girl even if she loves him that way. 🤣 I can’t stand it.

If you could visit one fictional world, where would you go?

Probably to Velaris (A Court of Wings and Ruin) because it’s hidden and protected. But yes definitely into a fae world just because I love stories about the fae…even though they can be quite scary.

Name five characters you would love to spend a day at a theme park with!

I think it would be so much fun to spend the day with Savvy and her two besties, Maggie and Kotter. The three of them had so much fun together in Savvy Sheldon Feels Good as Hell – I can only imagine how much fun they would be at a theme park.

Also, I’d have fun with the guys from XOXO, especially Nathaniel and the younger guy who’s name I can’t remember!

The Sunshine Blogger Award #2

I’m FINALLY getting around to posting this one but Thank you so much to Lindsay at Paw-Some Reads for tagging me with my second Sunshine Blogger award. Check out her awesome blog for great book reviews and other fun book content!

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

How does it work?

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Lindsay’s Questions:

What is your favorite genre to read?

It used to be romance but I think I have to admit now that it’s fantasy. Fantasy that has romance in it is my most favorite.

Would you rather read a great plot with average characters or a boring plot with amazing characters?

Ah! What a question…I’ll go with boring plot with amazing characters because maybe the characters can somewhat salvage the story! Haha

Do you have any pets?

Does a bat decoration from the Target store count? My son insists it’s his pet and he’s named it Miko, it even comes with his own cage! HAHA…on a serious note, I lost my sweet baby girl, Sky last year. I don’t think I’ve recovered yet – we miss her dearly. The kids want another pet but I don’t think I’m ready.

What has been your favorite read of 2019?

There have been SO many good ones!! But I’ll say Serpent & Dove because it’s my most recent favorite.

What was the last movie you watched, and did you like it?

I watched Moana couple days ago with my kids since it was on the tv and I LOVE the movie. As for new movies? i don’t get out much. 😩

Who is your favorite fictional villain?

My brain is drawing a BLANK but I say it’s due to the sinus pressure in my face (ugh HATE being sick)…so let’s go with my fave from the tv series Game of Thrones, the Night King. Even Cersi was pretty bad-ass, I hated her and loved her villainous ways!

How do you feel about audiobooks?

Don’t like them. I have no focus and patience for them.

What’s your dream job?

An author? At least that used to be my dream job. Right now a travel writer would be nice too…been stuck in Hawaii since I gave birth to my son seven years ago! I have the travel bug…BADLY.

Do you watch booktube/who are some of your favorite booktubers?

I only know one booktube duo so far and learned of them through Instagram – they are called AudioShelf!

Do you review books that you DNF?

Nope – and if it’s an arc on NetGalley, I think I DNF’ed one and reviewed it on NetGalley but not on my blog.

Would you rather read outside by the pool on a sunny day or inside curled up with blankets on a rainy day?

Blankets on a rainy day! A sunny day by the pool would probably mean I am IN the pool because it’s so dang hot in Hawaii. I overheat too quick haha.

And that’s my answers! So here are my question and yes some are inspired by Halloween:

  1. What are your plans for Halloween?
  2. What’s the spookiest book you’ve ever read?
  3. What is your favorite Halloween movie?
  4. What’s your favorite candy?
  5. Where was the last place you went to on vacation/holiday?
  6. What is your favorite romance trope? (Enemies to lovers? Friends to lovers?)
  7. Do you dress up for Halloween? If yes, what will be your costume this year?
  8. How many books have you read so far this year?
  9. Do you keep a reading journal?
  10. Name one thing that is challenging about blogging?
  11. Do you buy books online or in a physical store?

The Sunshine Blogger Award

Thank you to the fun and amazing book blogger A Little Haze Book Blog for nominating me for my first book blog award ever! 😘 Check out her blog, it’s filled with awesome blog posts and book reviews that always makes me smile!

Questions from A Little Haze Book Blog:

What is the first book you ever remember buying?

I don’t have a memory of the first book I ever bought. But I have a memory of my older sister and I, who loved Judith McNaught romance novels, but were too embarrassed to buy them (we were in high school at the time and thought we’d be judge for reading romance novels 🙄). I remember we were in the aisle at Waldenbooks trying to decide who would take the book to the cashier, because we were buying a “romance” novel. 😂 We ended up both walking up to the cashier together, I just don’t remember what book it was!

Have you ever read any book that changed the way you see yourself or how you see the world? If so what book and why?

I just read the arc for Frankly in Love which tackled the issues of growing up Asian-American. There were a lot of things in that book that made my heart ache because I saw myself in Frank Li. It’s amazing when you see yourself in a character, it puts to voice a lot of conflicting things I thought of as a child. The book also made me appreciate my parents and their own journey in life 1000% more.

What is your most unpopular bookish opinion?

I’m not in love with the Shadow and Bone Trilogy. 🤭 I know so many people that is in love with the Darkling and this trilogy and I read book one, barely got through book two and I have no interest to read book three. The Darkling does nothing for me. 😩🤷🏻‍♀️ But do I want to see the series come to life on Netflix? Sure! Because the series might be better for me, if it was brought to life visually on screen.

What is your favourite thing about book blogging or blogging in general?

I like that I get to meet fellow book lovers! Everyone has been so welcoming in the book community. Thank you to my followers for following me!

What is your favourite ever quote from a book and why that quote?

This one is so hard. I can’t pick a favorite ever, but I’ll pick one of my favorites that I have dog-eared in a book on my shelf. I usually don’t EVER dog-ear book pages but this one I did for some reason, so I must have really loved it.

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.”
― Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

I love Jane’s spirit, she’s a fighter. Even with her abusive past and things go wrong with Mr. Rochester, she stays strong.

If you could only ever read books by one author for the rest of your life, what author would that be?

One author for the rest of my life?! Hard question. I’ll choose Sarah MacLean. My first love is romance and they always make me happy, so why not choose an author that will make me feel happy the rest of my life.

What is your favourite genre to read?

Automatically I’d say romance but I’ve been reading mostly fantasy young adult lately but it HAS to have romance in it.

What is your least favourite genre to read?

Horror – sometimes it’s so good it scares the life out of me. It’s a love/hate thing but I try to avoid it most of the time. 😳😣

What is your opinion on open-ended books?

Depends on the book I think. I’ve read some that let me super frustrated. I want to know what happens…

Have you ever bought a book based on its cover alone? If so what was the book and what about the cover drew you in?

All the time. I bought Strange Grace by Tessa Gratton because of the cover. It’s purple and black with a tree with no leaves. There are red petals falling down and I love the font of the title. I love the color combo and the withered looking tree, it’s such a mood. I also haven’t read it yet. Haha…but I love looking at the cover.
