I cannot believe this is the last week of August by the way and my son just turned 12 yesterday. 🥺 I’m kind of excited that September means we are in the “ber” months and holidays are coming – because that’s always fun but also that means I’ll be more broke LOL. 😆 Anyway I’m working away on arcs that I need to get done by October 😬. I hope you all are getting some good reading done!

Well my laptop is almost done for lol…but not quite dead – I was just being in denial for a little because I do not want to buy a new one yet. It just doesn’t like anything plugged into the usb ports but that’s fine, I’m gonna hang onto it until it really can’t power up anymore. 😅 So I’ll just keep chugging on with it! I noticed I have a lot of arcs that are publishing on October 1st! Must be a big publishing day but I’m trying my best to get to them!

I thought my laptop was done for but it isn’t! Yay! Because I wasn’t about to drop money for a new one, in this economy lol. So I was struggling using my son’s PC which has the biggest screen and was giving me a headache and my ipad, which is small and was also a struggle to type a lot of things. So I, for some random reason, removed a usb/ubc cord that was plugged into my laptop and I started it up and that fixed it! I’m so happy and now I can go back to blogging. As for reading, it’s slow going still…sigh.

I think I’m in a struggle reading fantasy books right now which sucks because I have a lot of arcs that are fantasy. 🤔 It’s been slow going! I find myself grabbing a contemporary romance to just help myself finish one book and get my motivation.

This is the LAST day of July folks…I am so not looking forward to being back to school/activities schedule next week lol…I have loved just lounging around with my kids and just enjoying time together. I feel like when school kicks in the days fly by SO fast and then you know it’s Christmas. I’m trying my best to get through this arcs and borrowed books but I think I’m reading too many at one time. 😅
What are you currently reading?
Shadows of Perl by. J. Elle – 37% – this one is slow going I think because I don’t remember much from book one! lol…but I’ll probably finish it by the end of this week.

What a week right? At least in the news world! I saw my college bestie and we got to catch up, my is here for this week, we went to get my son’s school schedule and I got a mini tour of his new school and is happy at what I saw! I also got my daughter’s room and teacher information so we are ready for school I think. I am reading a bunch of books right now and hoping I can finish at least two books a week.

It has a been a chill week so far but an old college friend is visiting today so we will be at the beach with her and her family. Also my husband is flying in today, last minute, for a work conference here – so he will be with us for a week and a half! We’ll see if I get any reading done.

Well, the weekend took a turn for my son who caught Covid – I’m suspecting from Chuck e Cheese since it was packed. 😒 But he was the only ONE wearing a mask in there! Anyway he woke up with a itchy throat and sniffles Saturday morning (which I gave him Zyrtec for because I thought it was allergies) and I even ate bacon from his breakfast plate 🙃…we went to his piano lesson, then by the evening he was running a fever. He is much better! His fever only lasted 2 days and his coughing hasn’t been bad at all! I think this has been the most mild covid he’s had. Anyway, stay healthy out there!

Hi friends! It’s been a hot week, so we’ve been indoors with the a/c on for most of it – plus staying home means saving money. Hard to do though when kids gets bored but we did have to get some school shopping done since kids got back the second week of August which is sadly…SOON. My kids have also been working on videos or shorts for their youtube channels and I supervise them or give some advice 😅. Their videos are gaming related videos. I feel like it just helps them open up their creativity because creating videos and using editing apps are not always an easy thing. My daughter is 7 years old and very artistic so watching her edit videos is interesting to me because she has a vision of what she wants her video to look like! I help her of course, but I’m always amazed at the tools they have at their disposal. My son even uses her procreate drawings to create creatures on his Spore game. 😅 I love the collaborative effort! Here is one of his videos if you are interested – they both love Pikmin which is a Nintendo Game, they are obsessed with the characters so my son’s channel is everything Pikmin related. Anyway I’m just proud that they are learning to work together this summer rather than annoy each other all day. 😂
What are you currently reading?
Shadows of Perl by. J. Elle – 2% just started this one, trying to get my bearings and remember what happened in book one.
The Mist Thief by. L.J. Andrews – 3% this is such a bingeable series but I think I have to slow down so I don’t overload myself so I’ll be trying to finish some arcs first.
I let my son have a gaming youtube channel this summer. He’s been asking for five years now and he’s been learning the ins and outs of screen recording on his ipad or using a capture card for his nintendo switch – but he hates editing. So he is doing the editing? Me. 😂 And I haven’t used iMovie (I have a MacBook) in forever. It’s been a learning experience for me and I’m finally getting the hang of it…sort of. Also I’ve learned to use youtube for their audio library and uploading, etc…see I learn so much being a stay at home mom!
Outside of his gaming videos he and his sister have started making Pikmin videos. What are Pikmin you ask? It’s these creatures:
My kids collection of Pikmin
They are from a Nintendo game called PIKMIN and from what I learned from my son (since I only played the game with him a handful of times)…they are flower creatures. They come from the ground, which is kind of cute but they all have a different elemental power. Now as you can see from this collection, some are store bough plushies (those are the more durable looking ones) and the rest – well…I sewed them 🤣 with left over fabric (old tshirts) or felt. It was a lot of work…and now that we have a puppy – he loves them too. As you can see, Pink Pikmin has not faired well at all…and some eyes have gone missing even. 😭
They use my cell phone to film the videos. I did the first couple “takes” and taught them how to prop the phone etc…so at least now they can set it up and shoot a video without me directing them. Oh yes…I’m director, co-producer, tantrum calmer (for his sister who wants to be included), brainstormer mediator and editor….oh and social media coordinator or whatever title that is – I post the videos to Facebook so Nana in Philadelphia can watch them and whoever else. It’s exhausting but my kids and I feel so accomplished when we actually finish an “episode”.
According to my son, there are 2 series he’s making – 1st one is called The Pikmin Quests ~ where there is some storyline in my son’s head (yeah there is NO scriptwriting in this process lol)…there is danger, there is drama, there are plushy fights…you get it.
Here are the first two episodes:
And then he wanted a 2nd series where the Pikmin just go around our house and neighborhood and have fun. 🤷🏻♀️ Here is the first video for that series:
So obviously, I can’t already see things on here that bug me – like the first 2 videos I saved at different sizes I think. I couldn’t remember what settings I used for the first video like fonts for the title etc…so now I’m writing notes down in a notebook when I create these things – like song titles, fonts, and to remember to film in landscape mode instead of using my phone upright! 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Anyway that was my life outside of books this past weekend! The videos were filmed weeks ago…but I finally sat my booty down to edit all the clips and make into a “video”. It’s just been so busy with my son back in school, entertaining my daughter who is not in school and a puppy who wants to be outside all the time and it’s so HOT. 🥵
