Monthly Wrap Up | October 2023

Ah October – you were something! I spent half the month worrying about my mom’s procedure which was successful but they found more cancer – small tumors – the best option now is to have her do major surgery to remove her right kidney and ureter. 🙏🏼 Other things that happened was my son’s youtube channel hit 1,000 subs and it’s something I’ve been working on for him (because he sort of gave up on it)…but now he’s rejuvenated again and started posting content. So that was something good that happened this month. Then my kids got sick right before Halloween – and then I got sick. I survived Halloween trick or treating but after that it was like a truck ran over me. I don’t know if I had the flu or what. At first I thought it was just a bad cold I caught from the kids (also there was smoke in the air from a fire nearby) and that trick or treating just exhausted me. But the next day I had body chills and aches and really bad coughing.

So that was my October and as for reading this is what I posted on my blog:

Where did September go?! I thought August was tough because we all got sick but September was mentally rough because so many of my loved ones are dealing with health issues. I just did what I could this month in terms of reading and posting on this blog. I almost took a break but I do have a break coming in November when I go on vacation to Osaka, Japan. Oh August…you were tough on me! My kids went back to school, and then we all caught Covid. Then our a/c broke so yeah it was a sickly and sweaty August for me. I did get to read some books and finish up some arcs. So let’s see what I posted this month.

Wow I only posted 8 book reviews this month?! I did read 11 books that will be posted closer to publication dates so I read about 16 books this month, which is my usual going rate it seems.

Monthly Wrap Up | July 2023

July was such an interesting reading month. I had some really good reads and 2 not so good ones (and usually I don’t have many of 2 1/2 stars so I felt like I had some ups and downs this month! More ups though which is great since outside of reading I felt like July was a bleh kind of month for me with my biopsy and healing from that. I also had best friends going through their own health problems of their own so we were bonding over that but it also sucks that we’ve been going through some physically painful things! I hope and pray next month is better on the health front for EVERYONE and we get some amazing, good books to read!

And just like that we are in July. Is that crazy?! We are in the second half of the year! Wow…and July is gonna go by so fast. It’s time for back to school shopping and I have a few doctor appointments coming up. But June was a pretty productive reading month for after my 2 week vacation ended. I think I needed the break from reading! So here is what I posted in June.

Monthly Wrap Up | May 2023

Before June is over, I better finish this late May monthly wrap up. I was gone for the first 14 days of June – the trip was a success, but definitely an adventure. I’m in recovery mode now, the jet lag was kicking my butt. I hate that I left Japan on a Wednesday night and had a repeat of Wednesday morning when I got to Hawaii lol. Talk about time travel! It totally messed with my body and head. But I have no time to really rest. I had some doctor appointments, my kids weekend activities and having to keep them busy for summer break (or else we all drive each other bonkers in the house). I’m glad to be home! So here’s what I read in May.

I posted 10 book reviews but I did read a bit more just so I had posts ready for June since I went on my trip. Not gonna lie, it was kinda nice to take a 2 week break from reading. Well, no, scratch that, I took a 10 day break from reading. A few days before my flight home I got the urge to read again and got to finish some arcs. I hope all of you had a good reading month!

Goodbye April and hello MAY. So one thing I’m proud of is that 5 of these 16 books were audiobooks. That is SO rare for me, but wow, I can’t believe I got through 5 audiobooks. I think I’m getting the hang of it. April was pretty steady – I posted the same amount of books that I did last month.

How was your April? I think May will be a slow month for me because I am going to be so busy with so many things and then getting ready for my trip. But I hope everyone has a good month!

Monthly Wrap Up | March 2023

Hello April! I have a lot to plan this month for a very busy May and June. I hate that I have to always look ahead and find myself not being totally present in the moment. March was nice especially because my hubby came home and we got to spend a week with him. It felt like our “normal”. 19 more months until he comes back for good!

I feel like I’ve slowed down my pace on reading in 2023. I think because I’m just so busy and exhausted most of the time. I was excited for the two 5 star reads I did read this month ~ now I’m trying to find more like it! Here’s hoping there are more 4-5 star reads for me in March.

It’s been a tiring 2023 so far and wow did February go fast. And I don’t want it to go fast but I’m also looking for key moments this year like my husband coming home to visit in 3 weeks. Also- yes I am looking forward to summer where the kids are out of school and we can sleep in everyday. 😅 I need the break! Well they need it more than I do, but man…I just want a break.     Monthly Wrap Up | January 2023

    Our first month of 2023 is done! How did January go for you? I felt like it was crazy busy in the beginning of the month, then I finally got a little rest but then I had some results from a breast biopsy I did for a lump they found in my annual mammogram and I was stressing about the results. It’s non-cancerous – yet. So now I’m scheduled to see a surgeon and I hope they can remove it easily and soon? Because I’m also trying to plan a family trip to see my husband in Okinawa at the end of May. Speaking of family…I thought my daughter was handling her dad being away pretty well – but now we see that she’s been crying a lot in school. It seems like every little thing right now can set her off and after some talking with her, she conveyed to me she misses her dad a lot. 😢 My hubby is concerned so he’s booked a flight to visit us in March, during their Spring Break. That will be so nice and I can have a little break too.

    Needless to say, I haven’t read as much as I wanted to. I’m trying to catch up on arcs now but yeah, it was a hard month to get into reading!
