Cozy Reads

(Share books that give off a cozy vibe, whether through atmosphere, setting, or some other factor.)

The atmosphere of this story is cozy! It is set in a northern island – think cold, warm plaids, warm stews. Definitely cozy and magical. Perfect read for a rainy day.

Christmas in a small town and a cat cafe? How much more cozy can it get? Well…I guess it could get more cozy if there was snow in the setting but that’s ok, at least there is pastries!

A Miami Cuban girl goes to England and meets a boy who brews her tea. So cozy!

A family holiday tradition at a cabin – there is family, family hijinks and drama, snow, presents, hot cocoa and romance.

A winter escape to Lapland! It’s a winter wonderland and the perfect setting for a cozy holiday read.

Small town romance on an island – heartwarming and lovely cast of characters.

What’s more cozy than a bookshop in Paris?

I thought this was a cute read and I think it’s cozy because of how her family tries to hook her up with a new boy after her ex cheated on her. There is family, food and a sweet romance. Maybe it’s more comforting than cozy but I’m adding.

I find a lot of holiday reads cozy – what’s on your list?

Books I Am Thankful For

I’m going to be listing my 4.5-5 STAR reads of 2022 so far and I’m thankful for these books because they made my crazy/challenging year just a little bit better and that’s always a good thing!

5 STARS:

4.5 STARS:

I just realized how sparingly I dole out the 5 Stars for a book! But all of these books entertained me or touched my heart in some way and it’s all I ever want in a book.

Also, I am oh so VERY thankful for all of you who come by and stop to check out my blogposts. I appreciate every view, click, comment and that I found a community that love reading books as much as I do. Thank you all and happy thanksgiving to everyone that is celebrating the holiday.

Favorite “Aww” Moments In Books

(Share those sweet/cute moments in books that give you warm fuzzies.)

When Jack says this to Adaira: “From your life came mine. I would not exist if you had been born in the east. I am but a verse inspired by your chorus, and I will follow you until the end, when the isle takes my bones and my name is nothing more than a remembrance on a headstone, next to yours.” 🥺

The ending when Florence goes to Ben’s office, wondering if he remembers what happened in the past week…and she says “set the scene”…ugh…my heart!❤️

All the cats in this book. 🐱

Audrey’s meet-cute with Fred was the things “love at first sight” is made of but her steady relationship with Josh was what I was rooting for. Loved how her whole wedding was a disaster but by the end it all works out perfectly.

Everything about Willow and Mason together – their nights looking through a telescope. ✨

The moment when this terror of a Dachshund finally relents and trusts her new owners. 🥺

Every time she makes him Cuban food and he brews her tea. Match made in heaven. ❤️

These are just from my most recent reads. I know there are more somewhere in my memory bank lol but I’ve read too many books to try and remember. What’s on your TTT today?

Series I’d Like to Start/Catch up on/Finish  | TTT | 11/8/22

This week’s topic is:

Series I’d Like to Start/Catch up on/Finish

It’s one of those things where I thought I finished the series at Ignite Me and then the author adds more books years later. I read Restore Me and Defy Me but still haven’t read Imagine Me and I will one day, hopefully sooner than later.

I read Cinder so long ago and has always wanted to continue the series but never did pick it up again. I love that it’s still circulating and popular though. I did love Cinder.

I keep putting this on my series to finish lists lol. I will finish, I will. (Keep telling myself that) But I really want to know how it ends.

Maybe I’ll start this series when the author finishes the series lol. I love the show and I did almost get through book one but I stopped. Would like to finish it one day.

I still need to read book four!

I’ve had trouble finishing series lately – maybe because it just takes so long for the next book to come out and there are so many books out there to read! Plus I’m not a re-reader like I used to be pre-blog. How are you with finishing a series?

Unlikable Characters You Can’t Help but Love  | TTT | 11/1/22

This week’s topic is:

Unlikable Characters You Can’t Help but Love

(These are villains, criminals, jerks, etc. that make you fall in love with them anyway, perhaps because they evolve by the end or they’re secretly wonderful and have been all along.)

  • Parisa – All the characters in The Atlas Six are flawed and unlikable in some way but Parisa is so intriguing. I’m curious to see how her character arc goes.
  • Violet – she’s the kind of antihero I can’t help but root for!
  • Ren – she kills and kills to get her brother back, she’s a bit psychotic but I do admire her love for her sibling.
  • Maddy – she’s so misunderstood. 😦
  • King Vincent – he’s a ruthless vampire and yet he raised and protected a human child until his death.
  • Lord Shin– he comes off like the enemy at first…but then we get to know him and fall in love with him.
  • Vittoria – okay she’s done many things she shouldn’t have but I think she has a story to tell and I’m here willing to listen to it lol.
  • Kasta – hated him in book one, book two he was growing on me, we shall see in book three if he can fully redeem himself!
  • Jacks – he SHOULD be unlikable, but I love the bad boys
  • Aaron – he’s from a rival family but I kinda want to see him end up with Joan? lol…I’ll check back in to this thought after I read the sequel.

Who’s on your list of unlikable characters that you can’t help but love?

Halloween Costume Ideas From Book Covers  | TTT | 10/25/22

Halloween Costume Ideas From Book Covers

Since this week’s topic is a Halloween Freebie and I’ve done a bunch of them this month, let’s check out book covers that would make a good idea for a Halloween costume!

  • Belladonna – I can definitely see a costume with a pretty purple dress, and purple flowers in your hair, maybe some floral paint designs on the face and neck.
  • The Empress of Time – um yes to being a Death Goddess, or Reaper, which is what Ren was before being a Death Goddess. To be the Reaper, you’d need to have a clock on you.
  • House of Hunger – this is definitely a look if you are going for hot vampire victim lol
  • Heartstopper – this would make an easy and cute costume, especially because it’s on Netflix. But a private school uniform and the bags would be such a cute costume.
  • Daughter of Smoke & Bone – you’d need to get blue hair to be Karou!
  • For the Wolf – this would be easy and iconic because of the red cloak.
  • Fevered Star – can you imagine if you had a headdress like that as part of your costume? A star you would be!
  • Lore – one time I did a Medusa look for Halloween when I was working at a college library. I had small fake rubber snakes in my hair LOL. I’ve always wanted to do a full on Medusa costume.
  • House of Hollow – I don’t know about the bugs on her face, but I can go with the flowers and maybe drips of blood to make it look horror. Minus the blood then you can just be a gorgeous flower girl.
  • Devil in Disguise – honestly this is the costume I do want to wear somewhere…like at a Halloween ball or something. I want to be something out of the Bridgerton series on Netflix! lol…maybe the Queen.

Do you dress up for Halloween? And if so, what are you going to be this year?

Books with Black Book Covers

This week’s topic is “Favorite Words” but I wasn’t feeling it so I decided to do books with black book covers in honor of Halloween that is coming up.

I love a good dark black book cover with a little pop of color. It’s so good especially for the darker stories that we love to read.

Books I Might Read On Vacation

Um…I haven’t gone on a real vacation in a decade. Vegas for 2 days in May didn’t really count because I was not going to spend time reading at all. Not on my 2 days of freedom lol. So…hmmm….I am going on “vacation” in November to visit my in-laws in upstate New York – we are still going to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania also (even though my MIL just most from there to NY last month)…but here are some books I’d love to be able to read during the plane ride.

The shadows have risen, and the line is law.

All Bree wanted was to uncover the truth behind her mother’s death. So she infiltrated the Legendborn Order, a secret society descended from King Arthur’s knights—only to discover her own ancestral power. Now, Bree has become someone new:

A Medium. A Bloodcrafter. A Scion.

But the ancient war between demons and the Order is rising to a deadly peak. And Nick, the Legendborn boy Bree fell in love with, has been kidnapped.

Bree wants to fight, but the Regents who rule the Order won’t let her. To them, she is an unknown girl with unheard-of power, and as the living anchor for the spell that preserves the Legendborn cycle, she must be protected.

When the Regents reveal they will do whatever it takes to hide the war, Bree and her friends must go on the run to rescue Nick themselves. But enemies are everywhere, Bree’s powers are unpredictable and dangerous, and she can’t escape her growing attraction to Selwyn, the mage sworn to protect Nick until death.

If Bree has any hope of saving herself and the people she loves, she must learn to control her powers from the ancestors who wielded them first—without losing herself in the process.

Bee Hobbes (aka Bianca Von Honey) has a successful career as a plus-size adult film star. With a huge following and two supportive moms, Bee couldn’t ask for more. But when Bee’s favorite producer casts her to star in a Christmas movie he’s making for the squeaky-clean Hope Channel, Bee’s career is about to take a more family-friendly direction.

Forced to keep her work as Bianca under wraps, Bee quickly learns this is a task a lot easier said than done. Though it all becomes worthwhile when she discovers her co-star is none other than childhood crush Nolan Shaw, an ex-boy band member in desperate need of career rehab. Nolan’s promised his bulldog manager to keep it zipped up on set, and he will if it means he’ll be able to provide a more stable living situation for his sister and mom.

But things heat up quickly in Christmas Notch, Vermont, when Nolan recognizes his new co-star from her ClosedDoors account (oh yeah, he’s a member). Now Bee and Nolan are sneaking off for quickies on set, keeping their new relationship a secret from the Hope Channel’s execs. Things only get trickier when the reporter who torpedoed Nolan’s singing career comes snooping around—and takes an instant interest in mysterious newcomer Bee.

And if Bee and Nolan can’t keep their off-camera romance behind the scenes, then this merry little meet cute might end up on the cutting room floor.

The curse that haunted Lakesedge Estate has been broken, but at great cost. Violeta Graceling has sacrificed herself to end the Corruption. To escape death, Leta makes a desperate bargain with the Lord Under, one that sees her living at his side in the land of the dead.

But this world of souls and mist hides many secrets. And when Leta realizes she is still connected to Rowan by a tethering spell, she will risk everything— even her soul— to try and reach him.

Torn between power and love, life and death, Leta struggles to keep hold of her humanity as she falls further and further under the spell of the world Below… and the Lord Under.

Orphaned as a baby, nineteen-year-old Signa has been raised by a string of guardians, each more interested in her wealth than her well-being—and each has met an untimely end. Her remaining relatives are the elusive Hawthornes, an eccentric family living at Thorn Grove, an estate both glittering and gloomy. Its patriarch mourns his late wife through wild parties, while his son grapples for control of the family’s waning reputation and his daughter suffers from a mysterious illness. But when their mother’s restless spirit appears claiming she was poisoned, Signa realizes that the family she depends on could be in grave danger and enlists the help of a surly stable boy to hunt down the killer.

However, Signa’s best chance of uncovering the murderer is an alliance with Death himself, a fascinating, dangerous shadow who has never been far from her side. Though he’s made her life a living hell, Death shows Signa that their growing connection may be more powerful—and more irresistible—than she ever dared imagine.

I’m only doing 4 today since if I was really reading on the plane, I couldn’t finish more than one book. Something about planes just makes me want to sleep and watch the free movies. But I really do hope I can bring my ipad on the trip and catch up on arcs. It’ll depend on my mood and how much stuff I want to be carrying. 😑
