First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
We are nearing Halloween! And the stores already have Christmas decorations up. 😅
Let’s get to the lines:
“Something. Way out in the white-dark. Between the trees, moving where the thickets swarm.”

This cover is so good! So I finally saw this at my library and I’ve been wanting to read it since it released but I think it’s the perfect fall read since it’s supposed to be creepy. Have you read it?

Ahh I still have to read Wilder Girls! That’s such an interesting first line though, so I’m excited to read it even more 🙂
